Spacers... pros and cons

Ok to save some cash to divert to other projects I'm going to try and keep my R105s rather than selling up. Only problem is they wont fit over the brembos unless I use 5mm spacers.

So what are the downsides to using spacers? Will 5mm affect handling to a noticeable extent?

I had 16mm on the fornt and 22mm on the rear of my turbo converted S.
Yes, there is more strain on the entire suspension, but, i didn't notice any adverse effects, but, i did have upgraded suspension installed as well
