Whats the best way of cleaning the inside of my R53 JCW tips? I use AG metal polish on the outer surfaces, but I want to shift the carbon deposits on the inside

You could use your AG metal polish or Meguiars metal polish with some wire wool. After the wire wool has removed the worst of it set about it again with more metal polish and and old toothbrush and that should shine it up.

I was looking at Stoney's detail, and noticed he was using a drill in the tips - what end was he using? Some kind of polishing/cutting disc?

It was a cotton disc that I got from halfords. Its actually for polishing metal.
