Audi A3 or if pennies permitted an S3 or perhaps a decent spec Golf GTi or another decent spec 1 series

I'd prob go for either a golf, a civic, or a scirocco. An s2000 or masda x5 if carrying luggage or bodies was not to be an issue.

We just had this dilemma - although it was for increased boot/passenger space over what the Mini offers.
Looked at the A3 Sportback, new Golf, Civic, Seat Leon & BMW 1 series.
We ended up buying a cracking Civic EX 2.2 CTDi with most of the toys that the Mini has, and some nice other ones that it doesn't - as it has factory satnav it also gets rear parking sensors with reversing camera

I'd have probably kept to my Honda's with a new Type S, I did look at a Golf GT before the Mini.

Well considering the last car I had before I got into the NEW MINI thing  was a 300bhp Scooby in red, I guess I would have to say it would be the scoob
...Damn I miss it so much too , if it wasn't for the fuel in this country being so damned expensive and me feeling like I was getting mugged every time I went to the pumps I probably would still have it or another one. God damn fuel companies and government :moonie:

I'd have to say either a Scirocco, S3 or Golf GTI. Haven't driving any of them, but i'd imagine they'd all be roughly the same, which to some extent, makes the Mini so good!

Wait a minute. Is this thread about what you might have in reality or what you'd dream about having?
(He says trying to clarify the Mondeo choice.....)

It will be real world choices. Think what the mini cost you but if there wasnt a mini where would the money be spent.

If there was no mini..then I would save a megaaaaaa fortune..cos I'd stay in..cos whats the point in driving anywhere..it would be no fun..and as a result of not going anywhere I would be saving money cos I wouldnt be spennding it on a load a rubbish..and petrol too
would probably result in me being out in town on a tuesday weds thurs fri sat! ha ha

+1 Though driven a GTI, on a private road - the type that actually exist, was awesome for the couple hundred yards. Still miss my mk4 golf though it was just too slow being a 1.4

Scirocco. Looked at the Seat Ibiza FR before getting the mini (was probably nearer my budget than the Scirocco)!
