Me Julie and I begin our USA adventure, we stop over at the Edinburgh airport hotel and then fly out tomorrow.
For the majority i'm pretty glad to get out of the UK and all it's taxes and stupid government decisions etc, but, of course we are gonna miss our families and of course the MINI scene for which i've been a part of for the last 9 years.

So, folks, adios, of course i'll still be ever present on here, but sad that i won't be able to attend the fun runs

not even a teeny weeny bit ?

Jet lagged but still got time to go buying cars. I like that, hitting the ground running. Pics for I'm curious to find out if the 'banana' bit is to do with colour, shape or just some 'fruitcake American name (pun fully intended)

Glad you've all arrived safely though. A few months of blistering heat and you might just, even momentarily, wish you could experience a good Scottish day of bucketing down rain.

Enjoy!

Are you sure 5.7L is enough to go to the Mall? Even Sioban needs 200+bhp to go 0.75 miles to go to Tescos!!

Looks a great motor. What I want to know is why someone replaced the steering wheel with one from a bus!

Always liked them though, sure you'll enjoy!

bloody hell :sad:dam that' the trouble with those majors:frown: 26+ years I had of applying for my job every two years, working in a transitional role since 1998 to 2007 glad when I left it all behind. They just shut the door. I've got one of them too and is only looking to get back into work next week following a ten month 'holiday'. Contractors are always the first to go before salaried, saves money without having to cough up for redundancy. I think most folk in that situ kind of cover for such eventualities.

Hope somthing turns up for you soon. I guess it depends on how specialised your job is. Maybe something for you in Shetland?

How do you stand being a contractor do you get looked after or do they just shut the door behind you.Well, i had a 1 year contract that could be terminated by either side with 30 days notice, the fact they don't want me to travel back means they have to pay me for 30 days work.
I had continually asked that they were happy to continue my contract from the USA and every time the answer was yes, am now job hunting for the first time in a very long time

Alan, that has got to be the worst timing ever, what a total bar steward. Neil was made redundant just after Xmas, but he has managed to get another rig with a Dutch company. Oil industry seems a real pain at the moment. Hope you get something soon.

I actually miss haggis.
We have TV with built in Sky Plus type DVR HD boxes, it's a bit more complicated to work and the guide isn't nearly as good as Sky, but, once we get to grips with it i'm sure it'll be easy enough.
But..............what's really annoying is the adverts and the frequency, sheesh, already starting tor ecord programmes so that we can fast forward through them.

Not homesick as such but i miss my kids
