it's a shame that Greig has stopped posting. It's always a shame when an active member (who goes on runs and doesn't just exist as an internet MINI driver) stops posting for whatever reason.
I hope that whatever the issue, it can be dealt with and the foreigner that is "Grieg fae Arran" can come back into the fold. It's gonna be a great year for runs... :yes nod::yes nod:

on that note i think if u only use the site to get parts and nothing elce not even join in with a bit of banter then you should be kicked off as u are just trying to use the site for a disscout and thats not what the site is about IMO

I see what your saying Rob, but if you buy parts from our sponsors, then you are supporting NMS. If you only logon and talk online and don't buy parts from any of our sponsors, or go on any runs, or "donate" to the site, then I would say that is worse. IMO nobody should be "kicked off" NMS as long as they stay within the rules and their behaviour is correct
AndyP & Lenore
5th January 2010, 06:21 PM
For the avoidance of doubt NO ONE has been "kicked off" NMS. Greig was upset at some of the ribbing he was getting in a particular thread a few weeks ago. He decided to take a break from NMS to cool down.
Personally I miss his banter and input to the forums and I hope he returns soon, albeit adorning a slightly thicker skin.:thumbs up:

that is true but at the same time its ment to be a online comunity and if you dont put in then you should not get anything out of it and as i have said this is IMO
i bye parts from are sponcers where possabile and also will be geting my self some NMS goodies this year as not got a wedding to pay for now !!!!
and on another note if we where all to take the hump at some thing some one has said then this would be a very quiet web site
i meen how meny time do i get a slaging cos of my spellin but do i give a rats ar$e NO !!!!!! cos its all a bit of banter
EDIT- i have never said that anyone has been kicked off just what i think is right and wrong
if greg wants to come back he is more than welcome but expect a slaging and take it on the chin like a man
if you can take it dont give it out

I don't see it as an online community rob (as you can tell by the amount of meetings/runs I organise). I believe the online part is the vehicle to give everyone the opportunity to drive their cars with likeminded individuals and people with a similar interest. I agree without the online part, this site would not be what it is, but I believe the "Offline" parts (runs/meetings/meals/karting/pubs/paintball) and the experiences and friendships we make should be what we remember.:clap:
This is all IMHO of course ;)

I think we are all guilty of the banter thing and I have never taken anything personal yet or went of in the huff. It's just not worth it
Also for me it is a online community even though I go on some runs. Some folks you take to some folks you don't but thats life and you just get on with it
If Greig is reading this thread then only he can decide whether he wants to be involved via posting taking the rough with the smooth.

Oh Crombers are you beginning to melt? haha:p
I hope he joins in again, i've been here 6 years and he's one of a select few that really make an effort with us young pups on the runs. The banter with him and Kim on the Twilight run made the weekend for me really.
It's up to him at end of the day but im sure most people would welcome him back to the fold.
As for kicking people off that don't come on runs but use sponsors, i feel thats a bit short sighted. The club has an online presence aswell as an offline and both should be catered for. Not to mention the fact that we generate business for sponsors who are more likely to support us if they are getting business through the site. If we start kicking people off sponsors will get less business fom NMS and will be less likely to support us again.
Just my view

Right here goes. Like to get a few things strate (thats for you stoney) straight. Did I throw the toys from the pram, well maybe a tad but that's not why I stopped posting.
I emailed both Andy and Criag to tell them I was having a wee break from the site. I did feel like the comments from one or two (mostly one) were getting personal and were not purely banter and I know that I can have strong opinions but I don't ever take it to a personal level.
Like I said wanted just to give the posting a wee back seat to see how I felt and take it from there. I have been recently logging in just to see whats happening and I'll be honest I was starting to miss things. (Was totoally taken aback by the new format too).
As for this thread then it is probably the reason that I am posting now. Thank you for all the kind words said they are very much appreciated. I wanted to sit and answer all the comments but don't have that time so I'll address the main one. I did take a little offence at one or two comments and it upset me rather than made me go in the huff.
There were a number of other reasons that contributed to my exile from the site. Do I like the banter I would never have stayed on here and posted so frequently had I not, it's one of the reasons I started posting when I was offshore. Anyway I guess the question is do I miss NMS.... well ofcourse I do who would'nt It's an amazing on line community who I not only have the pleasure of talking too on line but have also met in person.
Anyway thanks to everyone again for their support hope to be back to good form again soon, or atleast back on again slagging Baz's outragious cooper (yeh S) commenting on Bens wheel fettish, disscussing paul's languge, trying to work out Stoneys incredible spelling efforts, batting off Craigs attempt at selling me things I don't want, drooling over another Andy P car purchases, Trying to work out what Ryans's car will look like next and upsetting crombers.....for just now Greig.

Sadly, i've not been able to be as active for the past wee while so i've not been reading every post like i normally do, even in the car care forum

Going to be hard missing the twighlight, moving house all being well in the summer. Want to get back to the mainland so I can get to more stuff. Found getting to the 2 runs last year whilst living on Arran was hard. One of the reasons for moving back, also don't want the youngins having no one to pass on the runs. Add to that really want to get it lowered and put the JCW kit on, no point whilst i'm on Arran. TBO in 6 months not including mainland driving I have done approx 200 miles on Arran, it's dire.

I did take a little offence at one or two comments and it upset me rather than made me go in the huff.
There were a number of other reasons that contributed to my exile from the site.
Sensitive soul ............... do you use Dove?
D'ya think we should start an NMS poll to guess who the dastardly 'villan' could have been .........................

"Hes not keen on coming back"
Did I miss something, what’s wrong with our Greig and the forum? I was thinking he might have fallen down an Arran pothole or
busy House hunting or taking a break due to artistic differences......

Interesting 'public' statement
I'm not gonna go back over the why's & how's of where we are today, my comments to oor Greig are open for everyone to view (& I ain't deleted anything) so please do feel free to say where you think I may have crossed the line.
First & foremost I have the abilty to have a laugh, including with myself & AT MYSELF (very important in this modern world of ours, me thinks), & if others find that difficult then 'hey ho'
NMS is a large enough community that we can choose who to 'natter' with when we all meet up. I have been on here for 6 years now & there are still folks from 2004 that I just say hello too & move on (I don't feel the need to become friends with everyone). I have also met folks who I would actually call friends (jeez I've even swopped mobile no's with them ). I have never knowingly had any issue with anyone on this site & never seek to pick a victim. If however I disagree with a post / view then I will say so & this instance this is where this all kicked off from.
What i will say 'publicly' is that when oor Greig :babypram: decides to re-contibute I ain't saying another word (I'm on a promise ;)). You guys can fill yer boots.
Next .......................................
