Yesterday morning the temp had risen to a positively tropical 4c, so I got the jet hose out and gave both MINI's a good blast down to get rid of the salt and grime. If I leaned in close to the car I could literally hear the salt particles stuffing their faces on my metalwork!

Starting to regret it now though, cos the temp dropped to -4 yesterday afternoon and hasn't risen, so my drive is now a sheet of ice:blush:. Pretty sure we up about -10c last night too.

what you need to do is find a hot jet wash i think most morison's have them and they normly work just to give the car a blast to get all the dirt off

Dougall's keeping reasonably clean just now even though he hasn't been washed for a few weeks. On saying that he's still muckit enough to get membership of the manky club. The snow and ice helps a little to keep muck at bay. He got a nice range of glazes and waxes from Santa so am looking forward to trying them out. One pot smells like bananas so just making do with the occasional sniff to keep me going till its suitable weather to use it.

I managed to get the hot water hose on mine at my parents on Sunday so gave it a quick wash and dried it in the garage. It was shining and now by Thursday you would never know it had been washed recently. Its almost as dirty as it was before not washing it for over 3 weeks.

The roads are Mank!!!! oh and my R105's are getting destroyed in a major way.. with the white bubbling from behind the lacquer getting worse by the week. I notice new marks all the time :argh::argh:

Maybe thinking about a car change this year so not majorly fussed about it.

Got inside of car cleaned today and tried out AG window polish I bought some time ago but never got round to trying. Stuff came off like a dream unlike other window polishes I've used. Outside got a bit of a tidy up as well but under sills etc desperately needing a good hose down. Too damned cold in the wind to do a thorough job and would be just as bad again doing five minute journey to petrol station. Anyway dont fancy having to break car out of an ice block first thing in the morning. Now just got to wait for till I can feel my feet and knees after spending half and hour and more kneeling in the snow trying to clean the wheels.

I've given up, but it will get a dam good clean when this weather buggers off. The car has that thick brown ice come snow that when falls off is like a brick near the sills. Hate the salt and the Alloys have sod all protection as I removed Tar off them and never got the time to do them and I even have the CG stuff as well.

Good effort if i could I'd love to blast it even if it was not a full wash and I cant dry it.

Don't know what was worse washing the car of keeping my feet and not falling over.

Finally got my car cleaned last week at my mate Pauls unit.
Had to go down to his unit as it was a scorching +0.5c down there and much less snow.

My car didnt look that bad on the outside but it really was. The car was damp so it hid the salty colour. Inside was minging though.

Car was jet washed down
foamed with super snow foam
wheels with autosmart smart wheels week mix
under arches and door checks with G101
washed 2bm with megs shampoo plus
there was tar everywhere so all wiped with tardis
exhausts with megs metal polish
once over with blackfire all finish paint protection
waxed with collinite as it lasts for a good while over the winter
exterior trims with aerospace 303
interior hoovered and all wiped with G101
glass in and out with autoglym glass polish
tyres with megs hot shine

Its starting to thaw down here now so may get a chance to use my new Karcher this weekend, B&Q dropped them from £199 down to £99 then at new year dropped another 15% of it as it was over over £50 so ended up paying £85 well chuffed.
Foam let it get in there, rinse, foam again, wash mitt off, rinse, top up with some AS reglaze and jobs a good un. gets me thru the worst months and doesn't take long either.

I stupidly used a brush to remove really heavy snow from my roof and the plastic bristles have left slight marks, almost like plastic has transfered onto the car. They come off slightly when you try with your nail, but im thinking a good wash, microfibre and some old school t-cut will get them out. Any better suggestions? Looking at Ian King here lol!

I have autosmart tardis glue and tar remover for the obvious, road tar, but it will take of most things lying on the surface of the paint, including products( resin & polish). I had a freind who had they're bumber scraped leaving the black plastic from the other bumper deposited on they're colour coded ones. The tardis stuff removed it quite easily. If it is actual swirl marks you have then they will need polished out or use a good resin, then polish (AG's) and it will cover them.
Hope this helps a bit, ideally we need the king of shine for the best advice.

Mr N16SHP
Im afraid it sounds like you have scratched your roof and tardis wont work as the defect is into the paint as apposed to on the paint.
I certainly wouldnt use T cut. Its really not very nice and the abrasives in it dont break down so you just end up putting swirls into the paint after you have removed the deep scratch.
It will more than likely need machine polished. There are several hand work scratch removers but to be honest I really dont think they work. You could try Meguiars scratch X but MINI paint is so hard that it prob wont shift it if its deep.

I took advantage of today's nice weather to give Dougall a spruce up. Wrapped the dodgy foot in cling film inside a plastic bag so that I could hobble about in the wet. Car wasn't particularly dirty since I'd given it a once over week before. I think I said before that some clown had bashed car with a shopping trolley. I always know when the car needs waxing coz the mark shows up. I was really wanting to try the two waxes I got at Xmas so first up was the Collonite. Gave fab shine but was really disappointed that it didn't hide the mark. I used it on half the car, and Dodo juice banana stuff on the other. The dodo stuff covered the mark no probs. Both buffed off very easiy, much easier than the other expensive stuff I've used but couldnt see any difference in the finish which I thought was very very good. I think I need to take car to a body shop though because at the end of the day I'm only masking the damage. Also am really disappointed that in such a short time of ownership that Dougall's bum has a lot of swirl marks on it. Anybody able to recommend someone in Aberdeen area that would get rid of these for me or how I could do it myself. I don't have a polisher and to be honest don't think I'd trust myself with one. Thank you

Got all three of our wee babies a good clean up today also. Making good use of the milder weather before the cold re-snaps.:D

I also took advantage of the sun.
Unfortunately I have not attempted to wash since early December.
all washed came across:
2" x 4" scuff on driverside wheel arch, looks like car park scuff
Stone chip on Roof
two real bad chips just above petrol filler, look like a bit of rogue grit wet walk abouts.

Think I will need to give Dave a shout for some touch up before they get any worst!
White roof and dark silver, am gutted!

Still.......great to see it clean again

Yup, I got the Audi washed at the weekend - used the first batch of snow foam that I had left (was over diluted and not very good) but wanted to check my hose had defrosted! Then jetwashed it, then snow foamed again with a better mix - much more impressed and the leak seems to be better on the lance, but still needs fixing. Then jetwash, then hand wash with Duragloss and then jetwashed again. Discovered just how good PoorBoys wheel sealant is though, impressive stuff! Though I also found a chip on an alloy that needs attention soon.

Car is looking great though, loving the snow foam and Duragloss combination!

UGH! Major disaster. Was driving along when I came to some road works, and they had set up a diversion. Not only did the diversion take you over fresh tar, but past a machine that was cutting up the road and lobbing tar into a big truck. Car got showered! I was fuming! So drove as quick as the law would take me to my parents and cracked out the hose to get as much off asap before it stuck. Only a couple of spots wouldn't budge!

Time to invest in some Auto Tardis me thinks to get it off!!! Greg, who was it you got yours from?

Im afraid it sounds like you have scratched your roof and tardis wont work as the defect is into the paint as apposed to on the paint.
I certainly wouldnt use T cut. Its really not very nice and the abrasives in it dont break down so you just end up putting swirls into the paint after you have removed the deep scratch.
It will more than likely need machine polished. There are several hand work scratch removers but to be honest I really dont think they work. You could try Meguiars scratch X but MINI paint is so hard that it prob wont shift it if its deep.

:thud: owwwwwwwwwwe!!!!

Well i'm tempted to go out and speak to the guys at Polished Bliss, but im worried about getting told I need to do this that and another 100 processes and get confused. Another big problem is that I don't even own a machine polisher! Thanks for the advice Mr King, mucho appreciated!

Thanks for the info too Greg, top man!

Well went out and spoke to the guys at Polished Bliss today, and they were first class. First question they asked was do you under stand car cleaning processes, and I said a little bit, so they we're very good at explain everything and putting it into English.

The guy came out, had a look at the car, and said..."ouch!" so I figured that wasn't a good start. Anyway, he talked through my options and said I was lucky it wasn't really that deep so should come out with some hard work and patience. He gave me Menzerna Power Finish and two abbrasive sponges. Said i'd need a couple of coats, and it should remove most of the marks. Then asked if I used any waxes to which I replied no, so he then sorted me out with Poorboys Black Hole and Poorboys Natty's Paste. Told me they are a good value for money and are a pretty decent combo together. He said there are more expensive and possibly better products on the market but I told him I didn't want to break the bank so he stuck with that.

Talked me through how to use them, and even threw in a couple of towels for me. Total cost of my trip, £50. Decided that was not bad, and some decent advice for free which you cannot get when you shop online, nor a true evaluation of the damage. Here's hoping it works now, and roll on some nice warm weather so I can sort it out.

**Looks at forecast** Great, more snow tomorrow!!
