I like it, but I think we will never see it on the roads
Stick doors and a roof back on it and before you know it, its on the school run and being parked in every M&S car park…..
Hey it’s the new big wee car…….Mini Jeep. ;)

Thats the R60 that launches next year, the moke is based on same chassis i would imagine. I think these would sell like hot cakes in the states.
My Mum is still waiting patiently on the R60 Crossman :D

If its got four doors it will sell here like hot cakes and and I take it will be a 4x4. looks a big beast. I can see a pair of ski's on the roof.

Its ugly I and wouldn't buy it. I don't like 4x4s. They serve a purpose in some environments but for every day use I'd ban them from the roads. Really get fed up having to negotiate pavements in town coz some plonker in their 4x4 (porsche cayennes being top offender or rather their drivers) think they bl**dy well own the road.
Its not a mini
LOL someone had to start that ball rolling ;)

4x4 is an option on the R60. It is the same size as the X1. Yeah it's not a Mini, but the Mini brand will not survive if it doesn't evolve and reach new markets. If it was your company you would do the same.
Say you owned a sweet shop then you realised if you sold ice cream too, you could make more profit and reach a larger target market.
This is simply what BMW are doing and it shows how much confidence they have in Mini.
Obviously people will love or hate them, but there's plenty people ready to buy. My mum was gutted to give up her Mini when she became a childminder so shes very much looking forward to seeing the production version.

Naw, that's just mini-abuse. BMW can extend their BMW range. I think producing stuff like this is more likely to kill off the mini not enhance its desirability.

lol how does opening the brand to a broader market kill it off?

I do like it but agree that if you just batter the Mini Badge then you kill a bit of the brand appeal. Some on here think the R56 was a crime and that was a move for the better in engineering terms and as for looks lets face it there is not much in it.
But I’d hate to walk into a showroom and see more or less a small freelander type vehicle with a Mini badge even if it has a slight mini look, its not what a Mini is about.
Granted BMW will continue to exaggerate the brand , I love the look of that Roadster as I still feel its Mini, but we all know they will push it too far and before you know it you’ll get an X3 and Mini sharing the same chassis.
Oh and if the site it right Happy birthday Baz.

Thanks man :D
Well people had same views of BMW taking over the brand and it sparked the classic vs MINI debate.
For me i would like to stay with MINI if my needs change for a bigger car or a roadster. Also even the new concepts are different and quirky to anything else out there.... does that not also have a feeling of the MINI brand experience?
I think BMW are spot on with the MINI brand.
Sorry got the bit between my teeth but I study marketing as part of my degree :p
