my wifes mini one 53plate passenger side seat belt wont recoil back after being used ,it goes back in if u feed it back in by hand .anyone had a similar problem and if so how do i fix it ? cheers choc

I'm not a mechanic but would this point to a fault in the inertia reel in which case for safety reasons I would replace the belt - would it not fail an MOT if it doesn't recoil properly. I need a new seatbelt on mine as there's a tear in it. I was expecting the worse (cost wise) for a new one, being a BMW main dealer part but I was very surprised - £47.00 ish inc VAT! I have a classic car as well and an aftermarket belt for that was £42 so £47 for a BMW OEM part is pretty good - somethings from a main dealer are sensibly priced after all - pleasant surprise

car booked in 2 a garage this week 2 get looked at ,if faulty i will get new one from david at jc dundee
