Mini Roof Base System/ Roof Bars?

I have a 2008 Cooper S Clubman and have bought the mini roof bars, but cannot find the location of the 'perforated' rubber, on the guttering, that has to be removed. I have looked, very closely, but cannot see any signs of it. I have been told that they are 6ins and 36ins to the rear of the front pillar, but would like some confirmation as to their exact position before any drastic cutting takes place! Hope you can help and thanks in anticipation. Any advice will be greatly appreciated.

ok, i have done this before, and i found it hard to start with.

You will see that there is little insitions in the rubber that will look like this ---------

it is very very hard to see but they are definately there.

Thanks for the confirmation, but where exactly should they be? I can find no signs of these marks at all! By the way I bought my car from your dealership in Sept, dealt with a Stuart Hogg? If you could give me a reference point, or some other aid, it would help me a lot. Thanks,
