Saw Eddie Izzard jogging through Torry, in Aberdeen yesterday...

Thought it was just a look-a-like until I saw a photo in the local rag tonight...

Just not the place you would expect to see a celeb jogging...!!!

Anyone else saw a celeb in an unusual or unexpected place...???

We bumped into John Thomson (http://www.imdb.com/name/nm0861027/) - Pete from Cold Feet when we were in Blackpool last week. Not exactly on the Eddie Izzard scale and I don't suppose we should be surprised at spotting a Lancashire lad in Lancashire.

Don't suppose catching Michael Caine sitting reading the sunday paper and wearing a scruffy bottle green cardie counts. It was in his own London flat and besides doesn't everyone wear SBGCs on Sundays :thumbs up:

Used to see Jenni Falconer loads in Wimbledon, I think she rides horses from the stables in the village. Sat next to Matthew Pincent on a flight from Edinburgh to London, and then the week after, sat next to Sir Steve Redgrave on the same flight - they'd been up playing golf.

Met the most of the Arsenal first team in Heathrows business lounge, was on the phone to my Dad at the time when Petit sat next to me. Had a nice chat about football, got his autograpgh. Really nice bloke.

Also saw Eddie Izzard in Dalkeith on the way home from the Heart of the Borders Run at the end of August. He was doing his charity "marathon a day" campaign, which was superb :yes nod:.

I saw Maradonna in Amsterdam airport last year with some of the Argentina players :D.

Anybody with kids watch Balamory? Miss Houlie's sister works beside me .

I've meet James Marsters (Spike from Buffy). Was at a gig in London and he came on as the encore with the band. Got to meet him and the band after. Nice bunch of guys including him.

Support a band called Easyworld and later on I bought the bass from the bass player. Singer is Called David Ford, doing well as a solo artist now. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Easyworld

Also met American Hi-Fi.

Here's a good one. Got married a couple of years ago. Missed a gig to see a band I liked in Dundee as the dates were the same. Was in Edinburgh the day before we flew off on Honeymoon and I decided to go into the guitar shop there. Saw these guys and thought to myself "They look like they should be in a band". It was the band I missed in Dundee. Got their autographs. The band was Fightstar. Ex Charlie fom Busted, but don't hold that against them they are a good band. Met his brother and his band in Arbroath, got a hug from him for having the early demo EP.

When i was a checkout monkey in Asda i used to serve Ally McCoist fairly regularly.

And me and Knox18 were asked for directions by Ari Vatanen in Glasgow, the night after Colin McRae's funeral.

Hence the picture in my avatar of us looking ridiculously chuffed, at meeing a legend, even though he'd been at his mates funeral that day. We couldn't help it!

Totally forgot....

In the cinema we occasionally get visits from:

Rory Bremner - He's married to a Hawick Lassie apparently.

John Colins - A footballer I'm reliably informed.

Will speak to the rest of the staff tomorrow and see who they can remember coming in. I'm pretty non-plussed to this sort of stuff.

Not sure if this actually qualifies () but I was talking with Martin Bain and Alastair Johnstone (Rangers Chief Exec and Chairman respectively) while at hospitality in Ibrox yesterday. Don't know about the rest of you but I thought that was !

(For fellow Gers supporters, I thought Martin Bain came across very well and discussed fairly openly the issues surrounding the Rangers' fans bad behaviour in Romania and the forthcoming UEFA investigation. OK, :off topic:, sorry )

Not one of mine but a cool story anyway....

I'm a friend of thriller author Lee Child. (http://www.leechild.com/) When he's on UK tours we usually have a meal and a chat together, along with other fans and his agent etc. One night we were out and he told us on the last tour he was on he was sat next to someone on the plane and he noticed them reading his latest book. He leaned over and asked if the book was any good and the guy replied.. "Aye, not bad, this guy can write." In Lee's typically quiet way he simply said "cool" and sat back in his seat. The guy next to him never once realised who he was sat next to. He must not have noticed Lee's pic on the inside flap.

After a days work at the Monaco historic a few years ago, me and the guys went to the 'Stars and Bars' for some hydraulic sandwiches .
This bar is full of various motorsport memorabillia and pictures... a very interesting place for a saddo like me, I was mesmerized looking everywhere but the direction I was walking, I walked into someone who looked vaguely familiar and spilled their drink all down their front, they were very apologetic even though it was clearly my fault for not watching where I was going, we exchanged pleasantries, he went one way, and I went back to my mates who were all looking at me with their jaws on the floor... they then informed me that I had just spilled a drink on Ronaldo (the fatter one)... how was I to know?

I have also met Mark Knopfler (he was a little 'porky' at the time, must have been all those "money 4 nothing and chips for free"), JP Montoya (really short) and Chris Rea (nice bloke, crap car!).

Not sure if this counts but I was helping my folks marshal at the stop line in one of the Kielder stages of the Lombard RAC many moons ago, (I was about 4 or 5 yr old) all the biggies went through - Ari Vatanen, Hannu Mikkola (gave me a big thumbs up :thumbs up:), Henri Toivonen, Stig Blomqvist, Jimmy McRae etc...also bumped into Colin McRae in a wee petrol station just outside Perth during the Scottish one year - he was in for some munchies!

Have seen Lorraine Kelly round Dundee loads & Liz McColgan lives quite near us too, hardly compares to the above list though

I went to the Metro Club in London a couple of years back to see Dion (the old rock 'n' roll star), a small venue where Jimmy Page was standing right behind me during the gig.

I blagged my way into the aftershow party in the Ritz where I met and chatted with Dion for a wee while. Also at the party were members of The Coral, but I didn't talk to them.

While in London last week we saw :

Vernon Kaye (Terminal 5 Heathrow)
Mohammad Al Fyed (In his corner shop) Harrods
Russ Abbott ( Covent Garden )

Whilst in New York last week just missed George Clooney and Meryl Streep, not sure if this counts but we had to leave to get our flight home.
They were filming a programme called "The Insider" in Times Square just outside our hotel. Havny a clue who they were but the Americans were glued to the spot.

Other ones that are regular Cinema visitors to Galashiels are :
Gregor Townsend
Pat Nevin

Used to regularly send Liz Mccolgan or Lynch as she was known then, away from our Cinema in Dundee when we were full. The staff were mortified that I'd done it.

Had to put in a bigger seat for Geof Capes when he came to watch a film cant remember which Cinema it was.

Had the entire Hibs team in to watch a film also.

Jasper Carrott attended a press show we were at in Glasgow for one of his films. Asked him were he'd parked his Skoda He tried to get me thrown out.
The film never made it into Cinema's.

Thats all we can remember at the mo.

Neil and Lorna. :D:D:D
