Hi all,

I'm in the process of organising a dyno day at Maptun in Whitecraig on the 28th of November.

We currently have six cars running and another four mini owners showing up for the banter.

Would anyone on here be interested in joining us?

as usual ?

I don't do rolling roads with my car so thought it kinda stupid to post to your thread but I tend to feel obliged to reply to the above...;)

Any reason you don't do rolling roads Craig? This is a hub dyno so a little different.

Just eager to get numbers this week so I can book it in and get deposits before our slot is taken :thumbs up:

It's a bit harsh to say that only certain folks ever do this kind of thing.
It may be true, but, not all of us are overly concerned about hammering our cars on a dyno no matter what style they are.

I for one am not putting my car anywhere near a dyno :frown:

As Ben said its around the £40-50 mark. They give you all your print outs as well. The more the merrier.

Not trying to be harsh Gismo. I appreciate not everyone wants to know the performance of their car but it'll be a good laugh anyway getting all the cars together.

Im quite up for this as i should be back in the UK for once and the car needs a dyno before it goes back to Germany next year.

Thats a bit expensive for me.
I will put mine on the one at Star Performance for £20 next time there is a detailing world meet there.

don't see the need to dyno my car as it hasn't got any additional parts added. All factory fitted jcw bits. :yes nod:

Unfortunately it seems like most people are saving for xmas or waiting for their cars just now so the run will be too small for it to be worthwhile.

A few of us decided to join in on the pistonheads one on the 15th, link here (http://www.pistonheads.com/gassing/topic.asp?h=0&f=118&t=759827&mid=156228&i=140&nmt=Dyno Day&mid=156228).

If anyone else wants to come along even just for the banter post up on the thread and i'll see you there.

After an eternity faffing around we finally managed to get a real-life Scottish dyno day yesterday :D

While the cars waited for their runs...

http://i262.photobucket.com/albums/ii119/antihero3000/IMG_9602.jpg

We debated who would scrape the most trying to get into the building...

http://i262.photobucket.com/albums/ii119/antihero3000/IMG_9605.jpg

Next, my turn...

http://i262.photobucket.com/albums/ii119/antihero3000/IMG_9620.jpg

Much to the amusement of the Monaro owners present, the jack didn't fit under the car, again. The wheelgap penguin was installed in a bid to undo my stance...

http://i262.photobucket.com/albums/ii119/antihero3000/IMG_9622.jpg

Of course it wouldn't fit under the arches so the rear spolier would have to do...

http://i262.photobucket.com/albums/ii119/antihero3000/IMG_9642.jpg

Success!...

http://i262.photobucket.com/albums/ii119/antihero3000/IMG_9638.jpg

Anxious moments waiting for my results. Turns out with my 16% i'm making more power then Ryan's 15% and Neils JCW but 4whp less than James's 17%. Bollocks...

http://i262.photobucket.com/albums/ii119/antihero3000/IMG_9643.jpg

To cheer me up the penguin was redeployed to Neilgap's stance of shame...

http://i262.photobucket.com/albums/ii119/antihero3000/IMG_9626.jpg

A stance so frightening Neil is often sucked into its vortex...

http://i262.photobucket.com/albums/ii119/antihero3000/IMG_9628.jpg

We approved of Ryan's new wheels...

http://i262.photobucket.com/albums/ii119/antihero3000/IMG_9649.jpg

A good day was had by all even if it was bloody freezing. Results will be posted up later :thumbs up:

It was late as so many cars showed up so we only had time to see them on the screen and not print out. Results received now.

http://i47.photobucket.com/albums/f166/thelostriots/dyno%20day%20dec%2009/GreigGraph.png

From - 154.3 roto whp @6800rpm and 192.9nm @3920rpm

To - 174.7 roto whp@ 6320rpm and 217.4nm @3510rpm

An approximation I know but last time I used 15.5% DTL which is what most of the other guys seemed to have.

Meaning i've roughly gone from:

172.8hp and 164.3lb/ft (222.8nm)

to

201.8hp and 185.2lb/ft (251.1nm)

I know the Rototest is soul destroyingly accurate and most importantly i'm really happy with how the car feels for what i've spent on it.

Still, i've been thinking (bad habit I know) that maybe although the torque figure is good, shouldn't the bhp be a little higher for those mods?

They revved the car to 6800rpm last time and only 6300rpm this time. Could that be the reason?
