Despite 2 days of polishing and hard work I still could not get it to look like a MINI ;):D;).

Thought you guys might like to see the pics and it gives Hamish a peak as he hasnt seen it yet as its still parked up in my garage.

Awesome work Ian. Absolutely love s2000's Hamish

Are they tail happy? Been contemplating one when I get rid of the mini. Don't think I could drive a car that spins out at the back all the time though

Its beautiful. Now if my son had got his one to look like this he might not have sold it to someone from Edinburgh. I think these are lovely motors. Goes like stink. Unfortunately Darren sold his for a flaming nissan skyline. I mean imagine selling a beautiful classic car like this for a pimp/drug dealer/ned/ looking beast. Got 450 hp under the bonnet but he can't afford to run it. Took quarter tank of fuel to get from one side of Aberdeen to the other. Guess who's got a skyline for sale?

Did you have the car warmed up and PW lightly the engine bay then with with the G101 then a quick rinse?

WOW!!! Struggling to find the words to post on here... Ian, I am pretty much speechless... It looks better than a new car!!!

Thank you soooo much mate. The cars paintwork was getting very tired and faded, its a 2001 S2000, so for you to get it looking better than new is truly amazing. Been impressed with your reports and pics of previous work and thats why I asked you to do it.

The only thing that p155es me off is that I have to drive it home... its gonna get dirty!!! Although I am looking forward to driving it as shiny and sweet looking as it does!!!

Thanks again Ian, I will definitely get that shopping list off you and you can let me know some do's and dont's to keep it tidy... although not sure I could ever do a job as good as that! See you Friday! :thumbs up:

p.s. ... CHUFFED TO BITS!!! :D

thanks Ryan, I really love the car, I dont think I'll ever sell it... thought about it, but I just cant do it... and I do think its a future classic.

Only done 30,000 miles (2001 plate) and I look after it.

It is very tail happy in the wet and... snow is a big no, no haha... although its good fun to have a play about... 240 BHP, no traction control etc... it only has ABS really as safety gadgets go haha

In the dry there's loads of grip though.

Eventually I'd like a bigger car, but only when I can afford to keep the Honda as a summer car :thumbs up:

Nice, cheers for the info!

This one must be a jap import then with the 240bhp. Does it have an lsd?

Hamish
7th October 2009, 10:44 PM
nah its a UK car, dont know the exact BHP, but it is approximately... I read somewhere about it being the most powerful naturally aspirated non turbo production engine or something (dunno if it still is) haha

Glad I got a black one when its clean, but when its dirty I think silver may have been better haha

Because its so low it might be worth your while having it covered in protective film to stop those awful stone chips that get to the bonnet sooner or later.

Toyed with buying a mint limited edition gold one (the NSX colour) a few months ago but the missus thought I was having a mid life crisis looking at a 2 seaters:rolleyes: plus I would lose a shed load of money on the Audi:frown: Guy who was selling it had just bought a Boxter S which was equally as nice:thumbs up:Love the way the engine is just coming on song when normal engines are running out of puff:DSound like a motorbike too:yes nod:

mmmh, that sounds cool, not seen that colour I dont think.

Yeah the engine is amazing... closest I've had to a bike... first few times revving it out I was bouncing off the limiter cos I was LOVING the noise too much and forgot/didnt want to change gear hahaha.

Don't see too many of them about really either which I like.

Only problem with engine is if you want to push on, you are doing crazy speeds if your revving it into the VTEC even in 3rd!!!

I quite like how it seems to be 2 cars... below 6,000 rpm it just rolls along, but above 6,000 and it SCREAMS at you... "REV ME"!!! haha

thats what I normally do but I didnt want to get the fancy Vtec all wet so I just had to spray it with G101 and wipe it all down by hand before dressing with aero 303.

It seems that the S2000 really is a car respected by all petrolheads!

We all drive MINI's, but we have all said we would love to own an S2000. That's the sign of a good car! :yes nod:

Used to own a back civic Vti it was a 91-95 model, the last model before they started messing the civics up, in my opinion. Loved that car, god the noise when you got passed 5,500 was amazing!!

Love the S2000, would also like one as well, someday.

I test drove an S2000. Stalled it leaving the car park, gave it a bit more revs and burned off with tyre squeal :-) loved it, till the rain started!

I'm working on the missus to get one as my commuter car, that or a cheap MX5 for the odd track day, with her taking on my Audi.

Car looks great though, looks like you got a good one :-)

cheers guys, yeah the rain is a nightmare hahaha, can be fun as well, but she's very tail happy... the slightest of snow and its all over the place haha, sometimes I wish it wasnt mine and it didnt matter if I bent it when I was driving it in the snow/wet... I'd be more relaxed about having 'fun' if that makes sense!!!

But I keep it sensible to be honest, really do see myself keeping it for many years... future classic and all that haha :D

Its a small world. I'm glad the S is in such good hands esp with Ian attending to its grooming. Loved that car though took some getting used to the sensation of sitting on the road. Darren doesn't have the skyline anymore. He got rid of it asap. He really regretted selling the S for it. We all hated it. Sorry if it offends you but its the kind of car I always associate with the wrong sort though Darren pointed out to me that they tend to be owned by enthusiasts, as was the bloke who bought it. I just thought it was the ugliest thing ever though the power was something else. The skyline was swapped for an AMG Merc but Darren now driving a Mazda 6 2.3 turbo. The merc is currently parked up my drive. He and Gemma have just moved into a new house so his priority at the moment is to get his flat sorted for selling then I think the merc will be next on the agenda. Its a beautiful car but I still prefer the S.
There's an S bumper and wheels for it in the garage. I think they are the original wheels for it.

The S is about the only car I can think of that would pull me out of a mini. Enjoy!

Some confusion here. Have just shown Darren photos of the S in this thread and immediately said its not his car. Wheels and calipers different, tinted windows, exhaust system and S2000 markings. The pic I've put up is Darren's old car. This one has the buddy club exhaust he put on, the black calipers and anthracite wheels. Car is also lower because of the coilovers fitted. As you can see its up for sale again.

Poor S. Hopefully someone will keep it long enough to pamper it. Darren had been a bit puzzled when I told him about the mess of the bonnet as shown in Ian's photos since one of his contacts had detailed the car and used it as advertising for his website. LOL he was quite relieved when I opened the thread to discover it wasn't his old one. One day when I can indulge myself in a car that will take only me and my handbag I will get myself one of these. I think they're just fab. Gave the feeling of being cocooned in leather.
