Last night in Armadale, around 7:30 he had been in an accident. His wee mini looked quite badly damaged. The front and drivers wing were in a mess :(
Thankfully he and his female passenger looked ok, but his Mini didn't :(
I've no idea what happened, the police were still on the scene, but the red astra that had collided with him was over on his side of the road right into the side/front of his mini :(
Just wondered if anyone had any contact with him to see if they're ok? :(

Hi, just read your reply in the 'I saw you' thread.
I couldn't work out what had happened, but knew it looked like the other car had gone right across onto your side of the road and into you :(
I hope they throw the book at her, thank god your wee boy wasn't in the car!
It looked quite a mess, but as you say its away to be repaired by someone you can trust so hopefully you'll have it back soon ;)

So glad you are OK and you did not have your wee laddy with you. So sorry to hear about your wee motor, I guess it reminds us all of what is important, never the less gutted for your wee car. Hope all is sorted soon and you won't be long with out it. As for drink drivers don't get me started, anyone how gets behind the wheel of a car drunk should be locked away, total disregard for anyone else. I mean we could have been on here offering our condolences on the loss of your son, how awful.

Good to hear your ok - the MINI will fix up I'm sure! :yes nod:
Got no time for or sympathy for drunk drivers....there is just no excuses. Lock them up ad throw away the key....but no doubt they'll be back on the road within a matter of months:frown::ragin:

Its a shame that someone would actually think about driving while drunk!
people on here will know how bad it is to actually walk than to drive!
my wee cousin was ran over by a drunk driver last month and when an old couple asked the guy to stay behind to let the police deal with it, he just spat in there face and drove off again!! :ragin:

Well, spoke to Direct Line this morning at 9am and sorted everything out over the phone. My father in law is listed as one of there recommended Repair Specialists so i'm happy its there.
By 9.30am they had faxed all the details to my Father in Law so i'm well happy about that!!
They said that even though she has no Insurance, there are ways to get the money (excess etc etc) back. They said something about Direct Line policy holders having protection about this sort of thing but to be honest, i wasnt really listening as i had sooo much going on in my head!!!
The Drunk Driver was a 26 yr old Girl, absolutely steaming!!!!
After 20mins of walking around the streets last night following her, she eventually ended up back at her house, where her boyfriend was shouting "am oot on Bail remember, a diny need this sh1te!!! Am no going back inside!!! A didny give you permission to take the car so your f***ed!! You'll be in the cells awe weekend, geez ma chain!!" He then took the chavy Gold chain from around her neck!!!!! :thud: The whole time i was on the phone to the Police, he said that he was taking a running commentary of the whole situation. He said "She does sound VERY intoxicated!!" Understatement of the year!!! lol!!!
The police breathalised her, which she failed obviously and was then arrested i believe for taking the car without consent, Drunk Driving, no Insurance and leaving the scene of an accident!!!
Anyway, like some of you are saying, the car can hopefully be repaired and my wee one is safe and sound.
Thanks for all the replies and i'll keep you updated :thumbs up:

Sounds a terrible thing to happen, glad you are OK and the MINI is getting the best of care.
I must say you seem to be handling the situation very well :thumbs up:
All insurance companies have access to some fund to repay your losses if you are in an accident with someone who does not have insurance.

I'm fine one moment, then the next i 'go off on one' to whoever wants to listen!!!
I've had 27 cars since i past my test 15 years ago and i can honestly say that having the Mini only a short time, i've enjoyed it the most out of them all and unfortunately, its the first car i've had to Claim for!!:frown:
Hopefully it'll be as good as new when it returns to me!!!:thumbs up:
I keep looking at the pics of it in my Profile!!

Its shocking to think that a wee trip to the petrol station can have such awful consequences. Like everyone on here have no time for drunk drivers who deserve everything they get though usually its not enough :ragin:. Hope you get your bonnie wee mini back in tip top condition and that last night doesn't spoil your pleasure in him/her when back to health.
I'm with DL. They do cover you for uninsured drivers with no impact on your premium. Have always found them to be efficient and prompt in keeping me up to date with whatever is happening.
Hope you're feeling better today.

She will get banned for 2 years and depending on criminal background probably at wortst 6 month suspended sentence. SH%T. You or I get caught doing 90 in a 70 we would also loose our licence for 12-18 months and get a substantial fine. I hate the criminal justice system it lets the crap of society get away with loads while your average jo gets made an example off. Rant over....well nearly
Worst of it is, her Lawyer, the one we pay for, will make a plea of not guilty so that it will go the day of the trial. Then on the day of the trial, whilst all the witnesses sit waiting for the tria,l there will be a plea bargain, most of the charges will be dropped and she'll walk away none the worse. :argh:

Absolutely gutted for you
As Craig mentioned, you can do some mods, like the aero kit for instance which isn't that much more expensive than standard bumpers, you'd have to pay teh extra of course but if you were planning on doing it then now is the time.
Whatever you decide i hope it's all fixed quickly

Sorry to hear about this but at least you are with D.L as they seem to be good about this stuff.
I have just changed last week to D.L as they also offer free vandalism cover and after shelling out £1000 last year when the BMW got all keyed I thought it was a good move.
Fortunate that the car has gone to your father in laws. That way you know it will get done right and as others have said perhaps you could score an aero kit out of it.
Have you any pics of the car?

Glad you are ok and the car looks like it will be back on the Road. Sounds like DL have the right cover. Not too sure about my E-sure about free vandalism cover that sound great. I'll keep them in mind for next year.
Just checked think E-sure is same as DL.
Protection from vandalism and uninsured drivers
It's horrible if you are a victim of vandalism and we recognise that. Unlike many other insurers with esure you won't lose your no claim discount*. Simply report the incident to the police and provide us a crime reference number.
It's also reassuring to know that your no claim discount* won't be taken away from you for accidents caused by uninsured drivers (as long as those responsible are identified), even if you haven't opted to protect your NCD.
This cover comes as standard with our comprehensive car insurance policy.

Yeah, for me DL have been brilliant!!! TBH, i've got stuff included in my insurance that i didnt even know i had!!! The fact that being hit by an Identified Uninsured driver wont have an impact on my premium is obviously a HUGE bonus!!! :D

Great news on you excess payment. I was thinking why should you be out of pocket for some stupid half wit, even if it was only £50, £100 its still not your fault and not avoidable in any way.
You really wish idiots like her were sent to boot camp for six months, given gray tracksuits and no personal items like mobiles etc and told to work in a care environment either with the young or old. I always laugh when I see that police, camera action show on TV.
“ this sixteen old youth has some serious problems, not olny is he drunk but stealing that black new 911 and driving it at 130mph while being chased by the police”
So you watch has he drives someone’s pride and joy carelessly past schools and in and out of traffic on the wrong side of the road and going down the Motorway and then you get this!
“ That will teach him, that’s a two year suspended sentence and a stern talking too”
:argh::argh::argh:
And yeah the Guys got his 911 back that’s been up kerbs, jumping speed humps, through a bush and got a shattered ignition and door lock.
