Diamondbrite strip & wax replacement - Laser Blue R56

We've had JewelUltra Diamondbrite paint protection coating on our laser blue R56 since we purchased it in June 2007. We used to put Diamondbrite on all our cars. To be honest after two years the diamondbrite coating on this car was getting worn. It didn't have as good a look to it as it did when we first put it on, despite keeping to the monthly regime of treating with liquid conserver. So, I managed to persuade MrsP to let me strip it off and start waxing the car. Here's a wee report and the results...

First off I stripped the diamondbrite with a 1" filling of G101 in my foam gun. Foamed the car up and let that sit for 5 mins before washing with a bucket of a good dollop of G101 mixed with Chemical Guys Maxi suds II.

Once the diamondbrite was all off, I gave the car another wash with just maxi suds to get rid of all the G101.

Then I gave the car a light clay with Sonus Green clay.

Then I washed and dried the car again and hand polished with Auto Glym Super Resin Polish.

Then I glazed the paintwork with Megs Mirror Glaze number 7. Many thanks to the King of Shine for this.

Then I applied Blackfire Ivory Sun wax.

The wheels were treated to a coating on Poorboys Wheel Sealant.

The black arches and black roof surround treated to autoglym bumper care.

The tyres dressed with Blackfire tyre dressing.

All windows polished with Autoglym car glass polish.

The verdict: I think the blue is lighter, the reflection is brighter and the shine is deeper than I've ever seen on this car before. I'm stopping short of criticising diamondbrite because for ease of use it is great. For those who are not really that bothered about their car but still want a decent look it is fine. But we're no longer in that category. We want the best look we can get from our cars and the best way to get that is hard work, spit and polish, SRP, Megs, Blackfire, Poorboys and Chemical Guys.

This is the best our laser blue has ever looked.:thumbs up:

Much the same as I have done. AG-SRP with Megs Mirror Glaze number 7, Blackfire sealant all finish protection then I apply my wax on the next wash.

I have the CG new trim gel but bought the AG trim as I think it looks better and last longer on the trim, I’m using the CG stuff as a tyre dressing.

Looks like a proper job Andy.
Much better finish now than the Diamondbrite had. I dont think you will ever go back to that.

However meguiars number 7 is a glaze as apposed to a sealant.
