Sunday 29th November 2009.

As most of you know, we run a cinema in Galashiels. In one of our screens we have a full size digital projector, capable of filling a cinema screen with a high definition picture from a Blu-Ray or DVD.

After seeing the effort Chris Pearson has put into his Pink My Ride (http://www.justgiving.co.uk/pink-my-ride/) charity fundraising, we all thought it would be a good idea to help him on his way to raising some extra cash for Cancer Research UK.

So, we are offering up our cinema facilities completely FREE OF CHARGE and organising a wee run after the movie. The Movie is the 2003 Italian Job starring Mark Wahlberg, Charlize Theron & Jason Statham. (http://uk.imdb.com/title/tt0317740/)

Cost of entry: A nice donation to the PMR fund, but we would ask for a minimum of £10 per person - remember this is all going to Cancer Research UK.

The plan is to arrive in Galashiels about 9.30am on the Sunday morning. Watch the movie from 10am. Movie will finish about 11.45am. Back to the cars for a very short run to Milestone Garden Centre in Newtown St Boswells (going to contact them to see if they would be happy to offer a donation to the fund). Then a fairly short afternoon run through the Borders up to Tesco's in Dalkieth, arriving about 3pm ish. Leaving plenty of time for most folk to get home in what remains of daylight.

With Chris's help, we are hoping to get as many Scottish MINI Cooper Cup drivers along to this as well, with as many as possible bringing their racing cars - providing they are road legal.

I'd like to say a huge thank you to Andy and Lenore for this fantastic idea and gesture.... I am humbled at the impact PNR has had and the support we have received.

I know some of you have already made donations and there is no expectation for this but I'd like to think that we will still manage to get a lot of us together and take advantage of this superb idea.

If we can get some of the race cars there we can put passenger seats in and some lucky (or not so) people can ride along with us on the run.

Thanks all

STOP PRESS !!!

Just been confirmed that Kim from AJK tv (the guys that film the Mini cooper cup for us) has kindly put together a "montage of moments" dvd from the mini racing to be shown before the movie in aid of Chris`s fund. It is only about 10 mins long but will be action packed and show how a Mini should be driven (NOT!!!)(even upsidedown, woohoo, http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zdBIuMhtSXY ,just a taster ).

Andy I hope this is ok & we will have time for it, I wasn`t sure if i was going to get it untill today.

AndyP & Lenore
17th November 2009, 10:28 PM

Many thanks to everyone who braved the weather today. I think everyone seemed to enjoy their day. The SMMC footage was excellent as well as the Sasha outtakes. Wot's Thirwall like, sliding passed the camera flipping 'the bird'.

Shame the weather was a tad wet for the run, but you can all blame us, we don't mind:yes nod::yes nod:. Cinema was nice and busy this afternoon.

At the end of the day, today was about raising some cash for Chris Pearson's Pink My Ride fund in aid of Cancer Research UK. So I'd like to thank EVERYONE for their generosity today, we managed to raise £330 towards the fund. An amazing figure considering we ended up being a bit low on numbers.

The run stickers need to be mildly moist when you apply them to the window it seems. So if you wet them slightly before applying they'll stick better and for longer.

Well done everyone!:clap::clap:

Thanks again so much to all who have contributed, some who just seem to keep donating!!!!!!
