Hey Guys,
Just thought i would share with you that mini have scrapped their Mini HiFi upgrade and replaced it with a new whooping Harmon Kardon system..... at £580.
I had the old HK system in my cooper a few years back and i thought it was awesome... i have the Mini HiFi upgrade in my current Cooper S and straight was disappointed with it... so good to see HK is back!

it's good to have HK back as the hifi upgrade on the R56 was not a patch on the old HK kit in the R50/53. :thumbs up:
maybe MINI are starting to listen to customer feedback...:laugh:

If I order another MINI I will be going for that.
I have the R56 hi-fi upgrade and its pants. However its not as poor as the standard R56 sound.

your hard earned cash will be better spent on aftermarket upgrades

I was very happy with the hifi upgrade in my Cooper, once I fiddled with the controls and did not crank up the bass I thought it was good.
£580 is a lot of cash, it better be good for that money!

Waste of money in my book, better off with a class install from our sponsors for cheaper.
And dont forget the known fault with the HK amps blowing up on a regular basis

Oops the s ystem is £530 not £580, slightly cheaper...And still wont be anywhere near as good as an aftermarket for similar money setup ;)

The only way HK could better aftermarket was if they were using a sealed loudspeaker

Sorry, the R56 doors are terrible for rattles caused by bass from the speakers. I've put half a tonne of dynamat in there and they still buzz with certain frequencies. However if the loudspeaker is sealed then the amount of resonance would be drastically reduced.
I was playing with the idea of putting a couple of Mission Cubes in the door instead of normal car speakers.
