If MINI had'nt been born that is what I would be driving :yes nod:

I had a 2001 GTi 1.8 in a previous life & although far from one of the best editions there is 'just something' about a VW Golf GTi, it's a legend :yes nod:

Favourie all time model would have too be a late MkII 'big bumper' model in Oak Green with 15" BBS Alloys

Went to GTi International in 2003 at Bentwaters Park near Ipswich. Over 20,000 over the weekend & some of the MkI's & II's on display were awesome. I also remember a twin engined (one in the boot) MKIII & the engines were VR6's

Enjoy your new car

Aww, I can't wait. (We all know the feeling eh!)

I had a very early mkII (A plate! with the little front quarterlights) but yeah, I'm with you on the late oak green/BBs ones. Yum.

That twin VR6 engined mkIII is mental, I remember seeing a video of it.

I know it aint no MINI, and I still miss mine but the usual criteria of space doesn't allow it yet. Yet.

I'll have another MCS one day.

Can you believe I turned down a mint oak green big bumper MKII in early 2000? Biggest car regret I have.

Very smart looking motor, saw one on the road at the weekend in dark silver, looked awesome.

Never been a great fan of the Golf's:frown: but hey, each to their own:D Would be a pretty dull place if we all liked the same things:rolleyes:

You never did !!!!

Last year a mate of mine bought a black G-plate 8V GTi. He was searching the country far & wide for ages & low & behold one appears in Clydebank.
Car had been in storage for many years & had only 68K on the clock. MINTED :yes nod:
I'll try find some photies & post up.

Must admit I still see some late 91/92 GTi's in specialist sites & would be sorely tempted if I had the space. One of the best looking cars ever produced IMHO

Sweet car. I always liked the Golf. My Ex had one (a Mk11) and I loved driving it. When it came to getting my own car I thought about it but opt'd for a Jetta. All the fun of a golf, half the price and a fraction of the insurance, only downside was everyone thought it was an old mans car...
