Evening All!

Finally managed to get some time on my Mac after work, and just had to tell you guys!

I work in a small local sports shop (Thistle Sports) for all from Aberdeen. I'm standing at the back of the shop and in comes this guy and his son. Instantly recogniseable as the one and only Rowan Atkinson. Well, to put it into perspective, he was a hero of mine growing up, and just had to tell him that his Mini is what got me hooked on them. I had the models and everything!

He was a really nice guy, and didn't mind chatting for about 5 minutes. He's really into his cars in a big way, and that's what we mainly talked about but sadly he doesn't own a new Mini!

Was well excited for the rest of the day, and as soon as he left i thought...DAMNIT, WHY DIDN'T I GET AN AUTOGRAPH!!!! (Did the same when Billy Connelly came in looking for a tennis racket for his nephew about 18 months ago!)

cool. Rowan Atkinson had a Mclaren F1 (think he crashed it). Wonder what he drives now.

If it makes you feel better, not asking for the Autograph showed more class mate.:thumbs up: Some refuse then your left feeling awkward. Best just to say nice to meet you. I was next to Michael J. Fox in the states and decided not to ask….just gave that knowing smile.

Yip, i agree!!!
Or do what i did once........when Paul Gascoine once said to me in a BP garage in Balloch "I suppose you want a autograph?"
to which i replied "No thank you!" and then walked away feeling all smug with myself!!

Yeah, my colleague was more annoyed we never got an autograph, but we both agreed it was better to play it cool, and be "professional" if you can in a small sports shop ha ha!

As you said Sav, when Billy Connelly came in, i asked, and he tried to be smug and said "Whats your name son? Neil? Well Neil, surely this is a better story to tell your friends than my name scribbled on a bit of paper!"

At the time i thought NO! But looking back i spose it's quite a cool story!

Watched some of Mr Bean on Youtube, and after meeting him, you realise how young he was when he did it, and how much of a genius he really is.

We are certainly the specialists in the North East, but our problem now is that we have moved into too many areas and now dont have enough room to show off what we can do with rackets etc!

I buy my canterbury's there for school and just general use. Though the shop seems to get split up more and more everytime I go in.

Started just rugby and tennis, now you do running and football stuff aswell don't you?
