I know a few of you have bikes so I think we should all meet for a blast round the red route :D
If we do the full route i'll have to bring the remedy as the session 88 just doesnt do hills :moonie:

Did this a few years back, twice on the red route and it was great fun. Some of the lads had all the right kit but apart from a helmet your sorted I'd say for the red. It’s that Black Run that has Balance etc that you really need the body armour stuff. It was a fantastic summers day all the same…..You get a few great views when you get to the top.
I used just a normal MB with a borrowed Helmet…..even when some had bikes over the 1.5K mark I kid you not………….
The Bikes were on the Back of a friends Volvo that was used to a hard time. I don’t think I’d want a bike near my wee car lol……………

Correct, I do need to get back out. Not been to Glenn Stress for ages. In fact have not been anywhere on the bike for ages.
Anyone wishing to go can actually hire a decent Kona at the centre at glentress for about £30 I think.

£3.5k for the bike and when i put these hope hubs + deemax rims on it, the bike will be just over 4k
some people will think its silly spending that on a bike, but for the type of riding I do I need 8inches of travel. If i was too use a £800 full suss bike iId need a new one every time I went out.
you can buy a scott XC carbon weapon for 8k :thumbs up: but if you let it go it might just blow away

I wont be doing any crazy sh!t like that at Glentress.
In fact the last 2 times I was on the red I fell off quite spectacularly but amazingly never hurt myself.
I think we should get others to come along and they can hire bikes. We dont all have to go down the hill sideways in the air, or do we!!!

30th July 2009, 07:17 PM
haha, i like how you added my name down regardless Chris... we best not get injured on the 20th, with only a week to recover for the next round haha... I'm bad enough on four wheels at crashing!!! I crashed my Giant the first time I went out on it... it wasnt mine at that point, was only taking it for a "test" lol.
Love getting out on the bike when I can, but need some serious practice so I can eventually learn how to tail whip haha.

Pffff, Never...body armor is for poofs :p
The black doesn't warrant body armour. You only really need body armour for serious downhill courses. Helmet and the correct clothing and your sorted! :thumbs up:

Did you head down there Knox?
Was a great day and the tracks weren't too busy despite the Peebles cycle club filling up the car parks.
The Highland Games were on in Peebles too which meant the village was extra busy.

14th September 2009, 10:02 AM
yeh i was there saturday and sunday :thumbs up:
didnt go to brighton in the end, couldnt justify £200 for some 1/4 mile action.
the trails were all rolling really fast and we took some awesome shots! i'll host them when my friend fires them on facebook!
next time i'll put a bit more effort into organising a day down there! my bad :shut up:
