Smilies are fully working, so, can only assume a local problem on your PC, have you got cookies enabled, if so, clear your cache, delete your browsing history (needs usernames and passwords re-entered) and try again.
Also, you can try typing the text for a smilie :yes nod:

Gismo, those pics are AMAZING!!!!! Love the second pic where Rossi is chasing Lorenzo, you can see the total difference in riding style!!!
