Clubman S gets my vote for the very reason you don't need rear seats and the Clubman gives you the best of both worlds.

Hey you two, I've had my current Mini for 8 months now well 8 months next week.:thumbs up:

I don't mind admitting I will be keeping it till the crossover has come out and I hope that I will content myself until that has been out 1 year till I buy mine, but knowing me I'll rush in and by a 1st edition and then regret it and wish I waited.

I leaning more to Craig having bought A R56 now. Not sure what colour though.

H'mm

there is no S in the Graphite colour - so it can't be that.

The MINI 50 Mayfair and MINI 50 Camden editions don't go in to production until August so it can't be them.

Based on that Craig told me last weekend he wanted an S that only leaves the Chekmate or the GP. or the Sidewalk in white silver

I saw him today and forgot all about his new car or I would have asked.:argh::argh::argh:

Craig - I managed to miss most of this through senility and being elsewhere in body and spirit. Well done though - you'll LOVE it (once you get a decent exhaust and manifold on the thing of course - otherwise it's 'unfulfilled'...). Hope you have many many safe and happy miles in it and that you don't mind increasing Shell's V-Power turnover by 10% every time you floor it!!! Ahhhhh, Memories...

As for the car, loving the noise and extra power. On the dealer.... well, they obviously have different idea to me as to how to put a car out the door. The inside was perfect, but the car was still covered in scratches which I was assured would be fixed, also the rear exhaust has NEVER been cleaned (as you can seen from the pics) and the refurb of the wheels isn't the best. (I wish they had knocked off money and I would have gone them done myself :argh:)

There are also 2 mechanical probs that the workshop never picked up on.. . Noisy clutch release bearing.. and when accelerating hard above 40 the car veers to the right and when you come off the power it darts to the left... Might be a diff issue as it has an LSD, but tbh I haven't a clue..

Overall tho, I'm chuffed and the paintwork can be fixed by a man I know... ;) Hopefully they can sort the other issues without me having an 80 mile round trip..

As for the veering, classic case or torque steer, welcome to the world of LSD, also, if one wheel gets in a road rut, the stronger "side" will keep pulling along it and give the impression of crabbing, but, try it in the twisties and see how much better it is :thumbs up:

ah OK, so is this normal then? It is quite violent . . I have to steer slightly left when accelerating hard...Well, hard to say cause i'm not sitting beside you, but also, both my R53 S's suffered from tail happy tendencies under hard acceleration, a bit like you're describing but in reverse if that makes sense.
Given that you have 210 ponies trying to pull you along and the rear end is along for the ride kinda steps out a wee bit.
I must say it never worried me cause the car felt ok with it :yes nod:

I no nothing (being a woman and all) but I would have my money one of the following.

1. Torque Steer
2nd. 17's and run flats plus the above.
3rd worse case this is one symptom of worn suspension bushes

Car looks lovely Craig - great colour :thumbs up:

Terrible way to present it to the customer though, but TBH most large franchises have monkeys cleaning them so maybe you're lucky they didn't go over it too thoroughly and add more scratches

The veering across the road sounds about right, ours pulls a little when you mash the loud pedal - just the way it is with FWD & LSD's in these cars. Also, the tyres are quite "square" in profile which doesn't help with tracking grooves/road camber.

Have fun :thumbs up::thumbs up:

210bhp through the front wheels is a lot! Mind you i've driven a 230bhp saab viggen thats fwd!!! evo quotes that as biblical torque steer.

I've noticed that my new LSD-equipped R56 S gets a bit 'interesting' under hard acceleration with all that torque, but it hauls out of the corners good-style. My old JCW 210+ (no LSD) was pretty great in that respect, with no real untoward behaviour and certainly no 'veering' - just loads of GO! Maybe the wee 16's helped there? Looking at the photos of Craig's new car brought a tear to my eye and the happy memories flooding back... enjoy it Craig - and s*d the fuel consumption! Get yourself a good Manifold and a GRS 'Cooler on there - you know it makes sense.

There is good stopping power with the JCW brakes albeit that i have them on the much slower R50.
