View Full Version : The Fife Fryer run - Sunday 27th Sept

Duncan Stewart
16th June 2009, 09:09 PM
Ive planned out a run round Fife starting in Cupar and a lunch stop in Anstruther, for the famous fish n chips hence the run name :p , many alternatives available if you don't like/want fish n chips.
It takes in some of the more interesting and scenic roads in Fife, and will be under 100 miles, finishing mid afternoon (at Cupar)

Start (and finish) is Fluthers Car Park, East Burnside, Cupar, KY15 4HJ. We will have a short stop in the morning at forest car park
Start time is 10am for 10:30 departure.

I'm hoping the parking will be not so busy at this time of year. But it is unlikely we can all get parked together so had thought we could just fit in around the car parks where there are spaces.
Last run I was on there we got lots in by the lifeboat shed and Craig parked up some cars in another car park he knows.
Lunch is just whatever people want to do - takeaway fish n chips :p was my idea, but people can bring a picnic or do whatever they prefer :D

was a nice run out today left after lunch as I 'm getting the cold oop's sorry I mean man flu

never knew fife had so many back roads you could drive them all day and much better in the Mini we usually have the van on the back got to say the roads are still as up and down in the mini but not any plates or cups broken;)

Not many pics taken as Allan was feeling sick with my driving :eek: wasn't on the letter today mind or I would have passed you guys in the front with the S's:shut up:

Oh aye and to finish off Allan was washing my car before putting it back in the garage tonight and I was having a wee look round it first just to check her over and someone (it could only have been in Anstruther) nicked one of my valve caps, honestly makes you wonder why folks bother

I could see the brake dust had been rubbed off the wheel where their knuckles had touched when unscrewing the cap:ragin:

Sorry for the lateness - unexpected visitors this evening.

BIG thanks to Duncan and Helen for a FAB day in Fife. The new car just about coped with the bumpier sections of road - spoiled for years with my wee 16's you see. Still great fun to hustle along though! Found out that the R56 ariel is crap for flags - lost my 'NMS veteran' Lion Rampant not long after leaving Cupar, still it died doing what it did best.

Good driving, great food and fine company as usual, although I wish yon Sioban would cheer up, you can never get a word out of her, and I think Malcolm's getting taller... Thanks to Stoney for the company to and from Larkhall. Good to see you all again, stay safe (but not necessarily slow) till next time. ELFMAN out.

I could see the brake dust had been rubbed off the wheel where their knuckles had touched when unscrewing the cap:ragin:

Thats sad as, :frown: were they fancy?

Nice pic's, Sorry I missed this but after the Oban, Borders runs and my trip down to the Yorkshire Dales I was about to have to inform the City of my take over of "Shell" the hard way of buying all the petrol.;)

looks a great run.

Thanks for a great run Helen & Duncan, the pace was just right, which I can't say for our drive home. Just at Glenrothies we got a phone call from Sarah, saying she had gone into labour. Drive was spirited
Not good when she's only 28 weeks. Babies not due till Dec time. Mom and I slept at Hospital, but still no sign of baby. Neil got flown off the rig today so he's now home.
Big big worry for all, but I'm sure it will all be OK.

I'm sure everything will be fine. Early arrivals are not the ideal but Munro's first grandchild was born just before 28 weeks and now at almost eight weeks old has doubled his birth weight and making really good proress. They can do amazing things in neo-natal units these days. Best wishes to everyone :thumbs up: H

opefully the wee chap or chapess will decide to stay where they are for a wee whilie longer.
