LUNCH DETAILS ADDED ON PAGE 6!

RUN DIRECTIONS HERE (http://www.newminiscotland.co.uk/downloads/minirun.pdf)

:eek:OK OK so i am the official ghost of NMS runs, but i've been thinking about this for a wee bit and now i've finally plucked up the bottle to post it!:I:clown:

Picking up on an idea Bonnie Scotland had a wee while back, I thought i'd try and see what interest was out there?

End of September 2004 is looking quiet in the calendar just now so how about a West-Mid-East Lothian run taking in a "MINI Grand Prix" (indoors) at Raceland Go-Karting, Gladsmuir near Haddington? On Sunday 26th Septmeber? With lunch at one of the local hostelries in the area as an option.

Route is going to start from the bridges at south queensferry heading through to mid lothian and then out to the East Lothian Coastal Route and on to Raceland, then lunch and a wee tour bringing us back around to Edinburgh area.

OK the bad news the cost is £35 per head for the mini grand prix thingy (usually about 5 races guaranteed)- BUT there is a 50% deposit required up front and this is where we would need definate numbers before going ahead and payment possibly via the NMS paypal account or my own if you guys trust me that much?:I:question:
Anyways feel free to discuss this among yourselves.:D

Hi Wul, can you put John and I down for both too please. Deposit no problem ( though I bl99dy hate PayPal,J uses it enough for Ebay so whatever suits) and not bothered about dates as Im not planning that far in advance yet.

Willie M
23rd April 2004, 03:17 PM
Nice one Wul
Linda and I will certainly be up for the run part and I'll be stoopid enough to put meself down for the karting too.
Deposit no problem, just let us know when you need it.

Wul
23rd April 2004, 03:59 PM
Thanks guys - Baz, will edit off the 24th to keep them racers at the Model Railway Show ;)
Seany - do you want me to put off the 3rd too? No probs if you do. :)

Will check the dates left when i'm there in a few weeks time and post back.

Tahra - I realise Paypal is a bit annoying at times - but thought it would be better to deal with the money this way as it save people having to write cheques etc, and if permissable the NMS account could be used for security purposes :)

This would only be for the deposit anyway - the balance is payable on the day! :)

Wul,

Please put me down as a maybe. I can't commit to anything at the moment (not even a holiday with my wife) as work is busy and I am due to go to Hawaii with my work for 10 weeks. At the moment it is looking like beginning at the end of July so the date may be out for me.

Do I get to take my lardy Golf on the track :approve: On a narrow track no-one would get past due to it's big fat erse :D

Cheers,

Hi Wul,

Emailed you back this morning - promise we'll pay tonight !

weefossy
30th June 2004, 06:02 AM
Wul, think I'm cracking up!! I thought I had posted earlier with an explanation, but i must have dreamed it. I have paid deposit for Frankie, Wefozzy jnr and myself to go karting. Sioban and Claire will only be spectators. If numbers are short for karting, I could ask some of Neil's (weefozzy's) mates would join in. They are all regulars to the karting and are mini lovers. Apologies for the confusion.

Wul
30th June 2004, 06:15 AM
No worries Weefossy - will change the list accordingly - cheers!

If Neils mates want to come along then thats fine - we have a minimum of 16 and maximum of 40 so we have plenty more room at the mo - that goes for anyone else too.

Thanks Tahra - will sort it for you in the morning as can't access email from home!

Thanks again everyone - that's us got enough to secure the booking now - will sort out the payment in the next day or so and then confirm it all to you with a copy of the confirmation by email.

And then it's on to the route for the run :D ant suggestions from you Edinburgh/East Lothian guys? I had an idea of starting from the Hawes carpark in South Queensferry below the Forth Bridge and heading out some of my old favourite back roads etc and off into town - ideas welcome guys.

Cheers again for the deposits :)

Tahra

OK Guys - contacted the Longniddry Inn regarding lunch (fine eatery :p) and they can do us a Sunday all you can eat carvery at 12.30 for £11.95 per person.

This will get you soup and a roll, choice of salad bar, carvery including 4 different types of roast, steak pie, taters and veg and a selection of desserts. There are vegetarian dishes available too.

The only available alternative to this is a greasy burger from the Karting venue.

So let me know what you think guys.

Wul, as an alternative, could I suggest the Indian Restaurant in North Berwick, who can do us an "eat as much as you can" buffett for £8.95. Might be too "spicey" before Go Kart racing! No jokes about "turbo chargers".

Through local contacts we might also be able to get special parking at the harbour, near to the Seabird Centre, while we eat? Only an idea, Sioban and I would be happy at the Longniddry Inn.

They put the cones out in the evening then take them away in the morning during the week... but they're left there at the weekend!
We did this on Saturday about 7.30pm, and the queue was about 20 mins (not the 40 signposted) - but we sneaked down thru Inverkeithing from the Junction before ;):p
Fraid I won't be joining you from Dundee! I'll be having a Long Lie in Musselburgh!! :D:D:D:p

Ok - so that's the reccy done - barring a blown over tree leading to me clashing wing mirrors with a Mk 3 golf :blackeye: it all wen't fine - A few alterations to the run but should have the directions ready for tuesday guys.

Like the design of the mini wing mirror though - the glass popped right out the mounting and didn't smash so simply popped it back on - will need to polish out the scuff on the casing though (where's me meguiars:p) Unlike the golfs wing mirror which smashed :clown:.

NOOOOOOOOOOO!!!! Wrong side of the Firth of Forth Alan!!

To confirm - the start point is in the Hawes Car Park, SOUTH Queensferry at 09.30 am sharp!

HERE (http://www.yell.com/search/ShowMap?nat_id=2913010&location=SOUTH+QUEENSFERRY&replayURL=%2Fucs%2FUcsSearchAction.do%3FsearchType %3Dclassic%26companyName%3Dhawes%2BInn%26location% 3Dsouth%2Bqueensferry%26scrambleSeed%3D14966%26mqs %3Dx)

so that means everyone north of the Forth Road bridge will need to come across it and negotiate the roadworks before the start of the run.

Hope this helps :)

Correct Steve - under the Forth Bridge.

Directions to Hawes Car Park: From A90 turn off for South Queensferry/A8000, pass SHELL GARAGE!!! come to roundabout at Tesco/Burger King/Frankie & Bennies, turn left into South Queensferry, follow road to bottom of steep hill (the loan) and turn right along the High Street, follow road to Hawes Car Park. :) If in doubt keep heading towards this large red metal structure thats 100+ years old and has lots of scaffolding on it!! :p

Bonnie - not sure how long it's taking to get accross the bridge at that time of the morning? maybe we'll get lucky and they'll cancel them like they did last weekend!

1. Kick off is 09.30am sharp(ish) from Hawes Car Park, SOUTH Queensferry - see previous page for directions.

2. The Lunch stop is at 12.30 in the Longniddry Inn:p

3. The Go-karting is at 2pm at Raceland, Gladsmuir and should last 2-3 hours - remember to wear suitable attire and shoes - you are supplied with a helmet, gloves and race suit - WillieM - your pimpmeister platforms might be a bit unwielding to wear in the go-karts:p:evil:

4. The Bad News - all of you who have paid the deposit via paypal still have £17.50 to pay at the event. Sh@z, Eggy & Roscoe unfortunately have the full £35 to pay :(

junction and take the north exit road to Coupar Angus road (A923), take the first left off of it at
the wee roundabout, and head into the Leisure park where the 'Outside Inn' is.. Here it is Closer (http://www.multimap.com/map/browse.cgi?client=public&X=337500&Y=732500&width=700&height=400&gride=&gridn=&srec=0&coordsys=gb&db=&addr1=&addr2=&addr3=&pc=&advanced=&local=&localinfosel=&kw=&inmap=&table=&ovtype=&zm=0&scale=10000&multimap.x=222&multimap.y=142)

Thanks for a great run Wul and congrats to Eric for superb racing. Put all these "old" guys to shame.;);) Glad I hid in the corner; not Niel's corner, as it was too dangerous.
Just to prove the run did get to North Berwick, attached is a picture of "Black Betty" at the seaside.

Well done Wul. Excellent run and good scran! The karting was a really good laugh despite my obvious lack of driving ability! Congratulations Eric! But was it worth the 4 am start? Nice to see all the new faces and good to meet up with the old ones; Willie are those hand signals in the Highway Code?;)

Cheers guys! glad you enjoyed yourselves. It's a pity we ran out of time to go along the coastal road to North Berwick - maybe another time.

Well done to Eric too - he might be home by tomorrow! 160 miles to get to the start of the run! and the bridge roadworks to put up with on the way home!! :(

Never managed to take many photos so look forward to seeing all you guys piccies :)

Due to people not making it and others not taking their change we have £70 to contribute to NMS as a donation from the event :D

and finally:

THANKS TO JOHN-APEX FOR THE STICKERS HE KINDLY MADE FOR US FREE OF CHARGE!

Fantastic day Wul, me julie, Jason and I had a great time :)
Karting was a great laugh even though i did get a black/white flag :( Nice one Eric, though you struggled to keep up on the way home ;)

Very sorry to Eric and Lynsey for taking them down the A8000 towards the bridge, even after knowing i should have stayed on the M9 :sleepy: got there eventually, not sure if Lynsey made it though :I

Big thank you, and well done, to Wul for organising a fantastic day out. Great wee run, lovely lunch and the karting was an absolute blast.

Well done Eric, Andrew (ringer ;)) and Broken Brian (Donnie Darko) for scooping the honours. I'm sure if Brian, then latterly Rob, hadn't taken me out in a couple of the heats I may have been able to put in a better challenge :D Maximum respect to Low n' Loud for being so sporting during our epic encounter on the track

Oh, and Gaj. I'm sure you'll find those hand signals in the Highway Code (Bonnybridge regional edition). Not too sure if the ones young Neil (Weefossy jnr) was using on the track have been published yet though ;) He'd make a great stand-in for Gareth Hunt in the Nescafe adverts methinks :clown:

Great to see Calum bringing wee Liam along to the start for his first Mini adventure. Mind you, he didn't seem too excited by it all :sleepy: Zzzzzzzz......

Oh my word, we were home before you, and that was after we took the scenic route along the coast to Flicks house for a cuppa!!;) We got as far as the roundabout at the end of the bypass and decided to about turn and go via the Kincardine Bridge, only took an hour and a bit from there!

ANYWAY, cheers Wul for a fantastic day, although I am a wee bit sore this morning, but I think that was after having to hold on for dear life as Neil collided into the side of me at high speed:mad:;)
Well done Eggy for a fantastic win, although I'm still a bit miffed they let the guy that works there race in the final, did he pay????:dead:

Until next time folks (checks wallchart and sees it's the Blackpool run in 5 weeks!!:D);)

Fabulous run Wul! Great to be a passenger for a change (GAJ is a driving GOD! I apologise for driving his wee baby like a total girl racer on the way back to Edinburgh!!) (tried to kill me twice and then moderates me:evil:;)) Karting was great fun even if i was only spectating. Neils ballet moves on the top corner were class as were brians cute ickle ears zooming round the track. Top grub spot too! Thanks:D

Yup Wul hats off to you sir , great day out.:D The look on the faces of the folks on the tandems make these days even better.:D Arm was flippin agony on Monday but what the heck. Eggy may have one the karting but he surely has me to thank for bringing the yellow framed (flying machine) kart in first in the ''we are the crap drivers that did not qualify for the semi final'' losers race.

Great photos Angus.
