What do you guys think of roof bars and boxes to get a little more luggage space when holidaying with your MINI, 2 adults and 2 kids?
Looking at options for more space this summer, and I'm not convinced that this option won't damage my car.
Looking for your thoughts / opinions / experiences with this please.
Many thanks!!

Hire a C4 Picasso & have all the room you'll ever need :thumbs up:
Went down to Wales last year for a week with Karen & the girls & that's what we did :yes nod:

As Crombers said :thumbs up: hire a bigger car for holidays.
But, there are different kinds of roof racks for the MINI the sucker type and the dealer ones that require drilling, loads of info on mini2

We've looked into the hire car option too, and this seems to be favourite at the moment...
Just exploring all alternatives!

Having taking the Mini to France with just the missus and me, make sure you pack light :D But it was awesome fun so well worth the hassle.
Limiting shoes was a good idea...

LOL!
We did it last year for one week - 2 adults, 2 reasonably sized kids (ages 6 and 10), and all the stuff we needed in one MINI.
But we had to pile stuff on top of the kids on the way back home (food we'd bought while down there, and toys the kids had bought). They also have a different idea of "packing light"!
This year we're doing the same self catering thing, but for two weeks... Hence thinking ahead. We still want our MINI fun though, all 4 of us do! We've actually provisionally booked a MINI Clubman... it's a little more expensive than your average family hire car, but we're seriously considering it.
Will read MINI2 on roof bars and boxes though - it may be the more financially sensible option!

Not worth the hassle mate, they are very very very slightly bigger than the normal MINI's
They are nice cars as we have one as a parts van, but thats got more room due to no seats in the back hah! :thumbs up:

Thanks for your input...
Think we'll need to pay our local dealer a visit to investigate. The statistics say that the normal MINI has around 160 litres of boot space, and the Clubman has around 260 litres... that's a fair difference IMHO. And it's square, rather than having to be careful with the sloping hatchback door... (you can pile stuff higher LOL)
Hmmm:confused:
