One of our MINI's is a Supercharged S. If we're careful and on long journeys we get about 30 to 34mpg. When enjoying the "spirit" of the MINI we get 26mpg ish.

Much better economy on the R56 Turbocharged. Although we still don't get N12JLK's figures. Ours are more like the high 30's. But then, we're driving an auto gearbox.

Also, both of ours are JCW's.

Mostly around the 25 mpg mark, but, better on motorways, actually better at 80mph (Ken don't read this :hand:) than it is at 70mph, gets around 32mpg.
But, had it down to 11mpg at Knockhill

I can get around the 30+ mark on a run with 'mixed' driving, if I'm using all the performance... don't ask! High teens? Well what do I expect from a 1.6 putting out over 220bhp? If you're worried about economy, don't buy a Supercharged S. Simple.

This makes interesting reading, pretty low figures for the R53 JCW's. Our S has the JCW intake & a Hartge exhaust and gets around 36mpg on the usual commute and over 40 if cruising along the motorway. It drops quite a bit if you drive it like you stole it....but any car does. I think it's pretty economical compared to most Jap performance cars.

Will be interesting to see if our economy changes at all when I fit the late spec M45 - hopefully it'll improve.

...

How can you get better mpg at such a highly illegal speed

I would have thought the higher revs and increased wind resistance would decrease mpg?
