OK folks time for me to organise yet another wee blast after Santa has been & before the New Year Bells. Same idea as last year & much the same route, details to follow :thumbs up:

'Festive Cracker' was hatched back in 2005 by Craig & meeself as a run / meet (as it's only 80 odd miles) to get folks out of their hooses & away from their telly's during the festive holidays. I have never changed the route (apart from doing it in reverse order over the last couple of years) as it suits the road conditions for the time of year and gets folks home before dark o'clock. If however people are getting a tad bored doing the same route year after year then let me know & I'll get my thinking cap on.

We are gonna go for Monday 29/12/08 (& apologies to those if the date don't suit) unless/until my current employer decides to amend the Xmas rota, again !!!

All roads are A-class and as such are salted in poor conditions, so no veering off into the unknown. Yer MINI may get a tad manky if the conditions are right so all those with a fettish for all things 'dirty' will be kept happy. If however yer name is Jason, you will have to design & develop the floating car .

Lunch will be at the Drovers Restaurant in the Crieff Visitor Centre and is a "counter service" style establishment. It caters for all appetites from a full blown 3-course meal to a baked potato or a sarny (so the choice is all yours). There is also a kids menu. Attached is also a Garden Centre and kids play area. Most of us have been here on a run before & thus far the service/location/car parking facilities are excellent.

We are then stopping for coffee/tea (as long as it ain't pi$$in down as it did two year's ago) at Lochernhead. Unfortunately nothing will be open except the toilets but the scenery is cool so bring your own flasks folks. Any spare selection boxes kicking around from 25/12 will gladly be scoffed by those in attendance :hand:

Just a wee 'nudge' on the run

'Festive Cracker' was hatched back in 2005 by Craig & meeself as a run / meet (as it's only 80 odd miles in total) to get folks out of their hooses & away from their telly's during the festive holidays. I have never changed the route (apart from doing it in reverse order over the last couple of years) as it suits the road conditions for the time of year and gets folks home before dark o'clock. If however people are getting a tad bored doing the same route year after year then let me know & I'll get my thinking cap on as I've started to investigate a number of roads (during weekends when the MINI gets out) south of Glasgow in Renfrewshire and Ayrshire Districts. The only problem I can forsee with this plan is the time of year (December) and the fact that some of the roads are not A-class and may not be salted / suitable. On the other hand the weather may be mild and we could be off and running. Then again I could develop this plan further and before you know it a second 'Crombers' run could be added to the calendar when the weather is fairer.

Whadyatinkpeeps ???

Cheers :thumbs up:

Crombers,

Re the Xmas Run... I wouldn't change a thing, I think it is perfect the way it is...

As for the roads down your way - Perfect for a Crombers Cruise :thumbs up: during next year some time as it is a fair time since we have had a weedgie run, closest would be Rob's Runs down Lanarkshire way. ;);)

Mind, if you need any help with Recce's or that, you know my number.. ;)

It’s been a few years, so long ago I was in the original XR2 and a Ford Escort Mexico down the road to Stewarton ………friends used to race down the Ayr road before it went boring with cameras etc down to the now Lowden castle theme park and back near Moscow. But have been on the B769 a good few times… Funny when I think of great roads I always think up north or the Duke’s pass etc past Aberfoyle which has the more outstanding Scenery with them………….I have Family friends in Creiff and I take the scenic route every time…and come home late on the boring Stirling road.

Only got up to Fort-William on the Mini so far……………..

These roads (& mighty fine they are to) are used aplenty on other NMS runs as well as Xmas Cracker :yes nod:.

Living in Newton Mearns & being a Clarkston boy, I know the Southside pretty well & I know I will be able to put together a fairly impressive route with a weekend recce ;)

"Clarkston boy"

We must have passed each other as I'm up the Mearns a good few times a week............I go up Clarkston, its the scenic route to the shopping centre as I can only go up Giftnock so many times........I actually fill the car at the shell next to the Golf Club on Clarkston Road...been filling up with shell since I got the car............I’m just over the other side of the Lynn Park in Simshill……

If you see a wee Cooper with Balck roof and stripes with AXA in the plate its me............;bigwave:
There was a silver Mini in same time filling up on Tuesday think it was, I'll have to keep KPZ in mind........

Ah, bugger.... I fear I may have to pull out of this one!

There's a growing chance there may be the involvement of beers this evening, and it may get messy!

I'll see how the night goes, but If I'm not there, don't wait!:thumbs up:

sorry!

You'd better have a MONSTER hangover big stuff :D, no probs ur on hold

There is a high possibility we will not be there so dont wait for us.
If we can make it we will be there on time.

We have a good reason and I can get a note from my mum if you need it:thumbs up:

Cheers to the Mr. Crombers for leading the way and to the small (but perfectly formed) Band of Brothers & Sisters who made it to the run. Also to 'Rear Gunners' Craig & Jude. I managed to keep up with Crombers and Stoney (it was all their fault, Officer), and enjoyed myself even if my back and several Renaults didn't.... Good to give the car a bit of stick and has made me wonder if I really need to do anything to it at all... hmmm.

David & Fiona - thought you guys would be behind us on the way home, did you go a different route? Anyway I went home via two goes of the Jet Wash and now have a blue MINI again. Take a hint Stoney!! Hope everybody had a safe journey home, Crombers, hope you enjoyed the Stoney & ELFMAN Sound F/X! See Y'all soon.

Thanks to Allan for a great day out... :thumbs up:

the weather was superb and scenery was stunning as always... All the hills looked like they had a dusting of sugar on them ;)

The roads got a wee bit clogged up, but nothing a wee elfman can't sort out :yes nod::thumbs up:

went into stirling afterwards and took us 10 mins to get in and get what we wanted and 40 mins getting back out... Grrr. :argh::argh:

See some of you on the 25th Jan at Stoney's Run. :thumbs up:

PS - those that missed this, missed a Cracker... :moonie:;bigwave:

Crombers, really sorry we didn't make it. Glad you got my text though.

We eventually dragged ourselves out of bed at 11am:blush:, and just seemed to stagger around the house in a medicated stupor all day.:thud:

At least now, MrsP no longer feels like she's been swallowing razor blades, but I'm still coughing and spluttering and blowing big green slimy bogies.:argh:

Looks like those who did attend had another cracking Christmas cracker. Look forward to next years - assuming we're not bogged down with a repeat of the Christmas cold.
