So you can start the car without the key being in place. What’s that all about?

Sadly I found out due to watching

In one of the episodes the character goes “I cant start the car I’ve dropped the key in the car” and the car response “you don’t need it just press Start”

So bored the other day I tried it and it started with the key in my pocket! ……….

Nope, but if you open the doors you need to put the key back in.

I had a loan of a clubman that had the comfort access. As long as the key was in your pocket you could push the wee button on the door handle and the car was open. You then just pushed the starter button and the car fired up, as long as they key was inside the car.
