My uncle used to use Southside Mini Centre.Back in the day. Does anyone use these guys for their new mini. I visited the garage years ago and the owner was a decent guy who actually advised me not to buy a rover mini cooper at the time because between the cooper and the vw golf gti which I was driving at the time the build quality could not compare. His advice was stay German !
Now that mini is German maybe he can see into the future !
Anyway,I want to get the cooper serviced and was looking for recommended independents/specialists and what I should expect to pay.

I’m looking for advice on this as well. My wife’s Mini is past it’s warranty now and I’d like to hunt down a respected independent garage to start taking it to for services, repairs, etc.
Just don’t have much faith in the Mini dealership here. They promised an MOT guarantee for the car’s first year, but when the time came charged us a fortune for what they called ‘consumable items’. Quite how an exhaust bracket counts as ‘consumable’ is beyond me … so I don’t want to give them any more business!
Anyone got any recommendations for indies in and around Glasgow? I’ve heard a lot about Minis With Attitude on South Street, but can’t find any info online beyond their phone number.

Think I remember hearing something about a BMW specialist up near Busby a while back. Don't have any more details but might be worth trying to look into :computer:.

I use a garage close to me that I have used since 1990. They can work on all cars and have had various MINI's in. :thumbs up: I would and have trusted them with losts of our family's cars (Honda, Jaguar, Toyota, MINI etc).
They are not in Glasgow, but approx 20 mins outside Glasgow in Longcroft (Near Bonnybridge). If you want their details, please let me know.
I would add that they only do work you specify and will not add or replace any bits on your car without checking with you first. :thumbs up:

Car Care in Thornliebank are advertising servicing for BMW Minis using genuine parts. This isn't a recommendation, just a heads-up ;)

Fully understand/appreciate re non recomendation but from what I've heard & know from others who have used them, I would'nt go near them.
Infact anyone who has used them & asked my advice has been pointed in the right direction & they have all come back to me re TME & fully appreciate the service they receive
A friend of ours owns TME (Thornliebank Motor Engineers & MOT Station) & I use them for all servicing (outwith TLC & TLCXL for the MINI) & I would recommend them to anybody. Ian & Steven know their stuff & if anyone wants any more info or numbers then give me a shout.

Haven't heard of this one & I've lived in the South side (Clarkston) most of my life.
(apart from 8 years in excile, but that's another story :eyes up:)

I don't think there is a BMW specialist round these parts, maybe ny is thinking of John Robertson the gearbox guy who was (may still be) off Homelea Rd.
At least Ian Cochrane isn't still on the go

Ach, maybe I was thinking of something else altogether - I'll have a dig about!

There's a BMW service place over in Rutherglen - my mate has been using it for years and he's a fussy sod so I assume it's quite good, worth a look see if they do the MINI too.

Spoke to my mechanic who does "homers" using the garage in the evening.
He can stamp my book ensuring I maintain my service history and only charges me family/ friends rates, result !
