My Steering pump went when i had my mini cooper. The steering got really hard and you could barely turn it. Ended up that my baby had to get towed away :eyes up:

But duinno if thats right or not lol

What symptoms are you getting? if it is the noise you hear, they can make that noise for AGES before they go...sometimes!

In my case, you would not know until it happened as there was no warning. One minute the steering is fine & the next your developing arm muscles ala Popeye :frown:

The noise you hear, could that be the electric motor, if so then most MINI's make that 'whine', mine did from new. Funnily enough my new Power Steering Pump (Electric Motor) is much quieter than the original FF one, maybe they have modified them a tad to make them more reliable!!

What age is your car?

The facelift cars after 04 cabrio and 54 hatch have much quiter motors so perhaps they fitted the new style motor to your car Alan.
