How do you wash your Mini.

I know we all go on about the 2 bucket system, shampoo, wash mitt, drying towel, sheeting water etc etc.

I was washing my Mini tonight:eek::eek: and got to wondering if people wash their car in any kind of sequence.

Me I start with the roof and the windows then give it a rinse, next I wash the the paint work give that a rinse then go round all the plastic trim and give that a rinse.

Finish by washing and rinsing the wheels.


So how do you wash your car.??

I start with the jet wash or a fast flow of water if it doesnt need the jet wash. I start by jetting under the arches and getting all the dirt out.
Then I start hosing it down from the roof down the way.
Then I clean the wheels with a variety of brushes and an old mitt. Clean under the arches as well with brushes and old mitt. Then dispose of the water, clean the brushes and put them away

Then I foam the car and let it sit whilst I get the buckets ready from the garage. Hose off the foam.
Then fill up 2 other buckets and wash the car 2 bucket method withn a lambswool mitt. Start roof then front then sides then bum. Rinsing as I go with the hose.

Then I dry the roof with a mega drying towel. I use a flexi blade to dry the glass. Then dry the rest of the body work with the mega towel ringing it out as I go.

I then use microfiber cloths to dry the door checks and sills. Then I dry the wheels.

Normally takes me just over an hour.

I power wash the car from top to bottom including the wheels and arches to get rid of all the dirt. (or normal hose if car not so dirty)

I then wash.... (2 bucket method and lambswool mitt)

roof and rinse
drivers side then rinse
front then rinse
passenger side then rinse
back then rinse.

I then dry the car from top to bottom with microfibre cloths.

once the car is dry I then wash the wheels and dry them.

I do it this way as I find by the time I get round the car, it has already started to dry.

This normally only takes about 30 to 40 mins. :thumbs up:

I also won't wash the car any other way and if I see someone washing another car, I want to do it my way... :thud::cool:

Well, when i do it i start from the roof, then the upper sides all the way around, then from the bonnet work around the rest of the car, finally teh wheels
Hopefully by then the car will be dry and i'll wax it, only to clear off the streaks :yawn:

Jet hose rinse from top to bottom including wheels and under wheel arches.

Using the two bucket method:

Wash the roof, then rinse.
Wash the drivers side metalwork then rinse.
Wash the windscreen and front of the car then rinse.
Wash the passenger side metalwork then rinse.
Wash the rear of the car then rinse.
Wash the arches then rinse again.
Then I dry the car and do the wheels or I do the wheels while Lenore dries.:thumbs up:

All drying is done with micro fibre cloths, all washing is done with micro fibre wash mit.

In the winter time, I don't usually rinse between doing each panel, as it doesn't dry while I'm washing.

Then front of the car and bonnet - then rinse..
Next each side of the car, rinsing before doing the other side..
Then the rear window and back of the car, rinse, then plastic trim, then the wheels.

...Then dry the lot off with a Microfibre cloth.

Then stand and stare at it grinning for 20 mins. It still does that to me :cool::D:thumbs up:

Afterwards i always use Autoglym Bumper Care on the bumpers and then polish the whole car with Autoglym polish

I used to use Autoglym bumper care also on our red mini, I found it to streek. Try using Black wow, its pure silicone and brings your bumpers up really black and lasts for weeks/months. Before using it you will have to make sure that there is no product on them that you have used before.

I have the engine break and leave it at the dealership for a week at a time. When it comes back on day release its always clean ;)
