Hi All

I am trying to get a decal of a bike fairing. I normally heat up the decal and it peels away cleanly….but no, not this time. This time it has left a sticky film in the shape of the decal which I cannot remove with heat and a plastic scraper and its huge!

Is there any magical solution out there? Is there an old school trick I don’t know of?

Thanks in advance.

Monki

Monki, I have a Bitumen Tar and Glue Remover (a bit like neet alcohol), I spray this on, give it a couple of minutes and then a rub with a cloth and it comes off no problem... :D

A Tar remover with a bit of elbow grease should do the trick. :thumbs up:

I use BTGR made by Barton Chemicals, but I think it only comes in 5L containers (which would be way to much for you). If your on a run soon, I could bring some with me for you...

Or any Tar remover from a car shop would do (Auto Glym, Meguririrss... ;))

Head out to polished bliss in Kintore min and get yourself some Autosmart Tardis!!! Although the amount you get in the can (5L i think) may be a bit much for your use..

I would give you a link to their website but I can't get acess to it for some reason:argh:

PETROL?! it worked a treat for getting the glue removed after taking off my front window tints. Although on paint i wouldn't be so sure

Autosmart Tardis is powerful stuff, right enough. Got all the tar and tree sap off our R53 before my polishing blitz a few weeks ago. Like Ryan says though, only available in 5L metal container. Think the cost was IRO £12 ish.

Oh, and wear rubber gloves!:thumbs up:

The link for Ryans post above http://www.polishedbliss.co.uk/cgi-bin/sh000002.pl?REFPAGE=http%3a%2f%2fwww%2epolishedbli ss%2eco%2euk%2f&WD=tardis&SHOP=%20&PN=autosmart%2dtardis%2dclean%2ehtml%23aAS1#aAS1

Could also give http://www.cleanyourcar.co.uk/shop/engine-amp-exterior/stoner-tarminator/p_421.html a try, i found this to be bloody brilliant but not for quite the same use as you (although it was much better than the meguiars and autoglym tar/glue remover!). Left the paint really smooth and clean, so much so the clay bar didnt pick any crap up off afterwards

go to your local ciggy shop and buy a tin of lighter fuel the stuff for Zippo lighters

put a small amount on to a cloth and give the sticky bit a wee rub the marks will be off in a couple mins.

I've used it a few times on different things cycles cars glass no side effects that I noticed.
