Please can anyone help, I am looking for someone with a gp to measure there carbon spoiler so that i can make an almost exact mock-up with some mods. Then try to get someone to fab it, as i went to the mini dealer and they wanted a grand and a half for one and that does not include the new heated rear. I just love the rear wing and because it is so expensive it is making me more and more determind to do this project.........:argh:

Thanks for the info, I e-mailed paul at mstyle so hopefully he can do the job or looks like i will have to snoop around the mini dealers to find one with my tape measure:smilewinkgrin:

My local dealer - Cooper Wimbledon - have a used GP at the moment - maybe try them?

There was a GP in Douglas Parks' window last week...maybe you can pop down there and measure up.

I'll get onto it in about an hour. Im guessing you want the top end measured...and the plates that sit from the spoiler to behind the glass.

all in it will be cheaper to get the GP wing, even at the silly dealer price rates. As mocking stuff up usually dose not end well un less you have access to CAD/CAM and a rapid prototype machine, then the cost of actually finding someone to make it would be quite high.
Edit: its not just the wing height and place that matter but the actual angle of the wing (too much and youll just create drag, get it wrong and you get lift) the GP wing was designed to work with some revised under car areo plates on the GP, while it dose create active down force, it is much less less than that of the jcw challenge cars, the best option for price and some effect is the normal jcw dealer fit wing.

Ok, the dimensions am listing may sound confusing. I really need a picture of the spoiler in order to illustrate the measured parts i mean :thumbs up:
Length of top carbon plate - 91.1cm
Width of carbon plate - 15cm
Length of plate that support the spoiler - 31cm (top down to window)
Length of the edge of plate that goes down the side of the window - 28cm
The width of these support mounts - 21.5 cm
Here is an interesting link featuring guys who are trying to do the same as you are. They have already made a prototype although the rear glass did have to be replaced in order to have the mounts fitted - http://www.northamericanmotoring.com/forums/showthread.php?t=131251

Cheers for all the help peeps, I do have the software to do this as i have a vinyl cutter for graphics and all the software (not trying to get on carlos patch) anyway if i can make a mock up out of pvc foam then my mate in engineering can make the spoiler from thin but strong enough metal then maybe get it powder coated or something. the mod would be try to fit it some how to the window (or something i will cross that bridge when i come to that) if no i work for autoglass so may be able to get my mits on the heated rear. For the drag and uplift my mini one does not go that fast at the most it may only kick up dust, but if i do go down the rot and get it remapped then i may have to think again......

i wouldnt worry too much about the way the GPs one bolts through some decent areospace grade adhesive will do :D

An observation from a passing bystander, it seems like a lot of work for something that is very likely to offer no performance benefit. If James is right you would only have to be traveling at 60 to have some effect on the cars handling (good or just as easily bad). Plus, any modification is likely to be detrimental when you sell it on (probably for something quicker)
Would it not be better to spend a little extra and get something pukka JCW, you'll know it will add both performance and value. Not to mention it won't look like you're trying to pass off a one as a GP.
Each to their own but isn't sticking a GP spoiler to a One is a bit like sticking the Cosworth whale tail to a standard escort?

the best advice i could give would be to see if any braker has any GP parts i know 1320 might be the best bet cant rember the webby but google 1320 autos and give em a call as the do a lot of minis, or douglas valley always have some werird and wonderful.
the best bet is to look for a boot the same colour as yous and use that to fit the part to so if you do sell you can just swap boots back. or just wait a couple of weeks as i have something very special coming from the states thats new ;)

Okay you may be changing my mind already, I just wanted something a bit different from everyones mini and because it is so hard and expensive to get and buy it made me more determind to get it, So whats the new think james is getting from the states?. Speed by the way isnt everything as when I had my cupra nobody wanted to play and i was never out the petrol station. And now iam not in the station filling up all the time i can spend the savings on mods.....

Im not quite allowed to share all the details yet, as its just going through its final test phase before it goes on sale but its a new spoiler from m7, i haven't seen the final pics yet as the first batch hasn't been made but im told it will be available to us soon (which is good as im still finishing the online shop).
IMO, the normal jcw wing that the dealers do is good, and a dam sight cheaper than most, as most after market ones are really meant for track work.

Nathan must've put the prototype GP clone wing on his car after I saw him at AMVIV, as when I saw his car, it still had the M7 wing...which looks cool, but only really on heavily modded MINIs IMHO

Their website seems a to only have their exhaust products, perhaps they don't do much updating of their engrish language site. I'm sure either emailing Arqray or asking around on NAM would unearth some answers.

Yeah i had a look too, looks like a pretty neat setup. The spoiler is listed here (linky) (http://www.arqray.jp/englishweb/pages/products/exterior/index.html) on the English site towards the bottom of the page, dose not see to have an online shop though. Its also why the HKS stuff for the mini hasn't relay made it over here (i know John had an HKS on his old cooper at one point) as not many folk pay much attention to the jap stuff for the mini.
