When we had Sarahs cooper we got worse Mpg with it than we do with the Cooper S. I think we used to work the Cooper harder. Having said that the Cooper engine didnt make as many strange noises as the S.

Been a bit disappointed with the MPG of my new R56 Cooper.
It's done 45mpg on a long run (A9 or similar) but the twisties (my commute to work) much lower about 37mpg average so far. Still better than my previous Cooper that averaged 33mpg on the twisties but way short of the claimed figures.
But only had the car 7 weeks and 3000 miles so will hopefully improve.

Mine is pretty much on 40mpg but then I am only doing short journeys of 5 miles.

On a run, I can achieve 50mpg if you do not exceed 70mph.

With a better mix of driving, which I was doing last year, it was averaging 43mpg. Fuel consumption should improve with warmer weather.

I agree that the official figures are optimistic, just like every other car I've had.

Good figures, perhaps even a Cooper S is cheap to run!

Yes in my opinion the R56 Cooper offers a good blend of performance and economy especially is you like your petrol fuelled motors...:D
