Hi Folks,
Looking into getting a Sat nav system but I have no clue what to do....It ryhmed!
I have seen some discussion on here awhile back and wondered what was the best option.
Needed mostly for rural aberdeenshire.
Thanks

Before you get the obvious "get a map" advice, best fo to Halfords to see the range and get them to explain them all, then leave and buy online ;)
I would advise Tom Tom, the best you can afford, unless, you want an aftermarket type, motorised head unit etc.

I have used Tom Tom systems for years personally and at work and have NO complaints. :) :)
All depends on what you want with it... Handsfree calling etc or just the Sat Nav.
some options HERE (http://www.ebuyer.com/search/?strSearch=&bolShowAll=true&intStoreID=74&intCatID=71&intSubcatUID=849&intMfrID=411&bolShowAll=true)

I recently bought the tomtom rider, exclusive for the bike, but, you can adapt it for the car, might be worth a looky :)
Has full bluetooth to pair with a headset and the phone and works cause i tried it :)

Depends very much on your budget. If you can afford it, go for a fixed install one (e.g. Kenwood with motorised screen - see mikeythemini's website). They are far more reliable than the portable ones, they stay routed (even through tunnels) and seem to reroute a lot quicker too.
I have the Kenwood in mine and, back to back with a Tom Tom user on the Italian Job, found it MUCH more reliable and useful.

I got the Road Angel Navigator, mega bucks at the time, mainly because it had the speed cameras..........it's crap. Most of the time I get where I'm going before it finds the signal, or it gets me to within a mile or two, then locks up. Having seen other people use Tom Tom, it seems much better.
Maybe it's just me being thick.:o
