Timing Belt

Hi Guys,

I know it's generally recommended to change the timing belt after 40,000 miles or so (i think?!).

My mini has done 42,000 - do we know what sort of mileage the mini's can take before the timing belt goes?

The MINI has a chain not a belt so don't worry;) :)

as john posted the tritec engine is chain driver the belt that you can see only drives the ancilliaries like the alternator, water pump etc

as for the chain the vast majority of you will never reach the recommended mileage for it's change

though of course there will be a few exceptions to the rule

it is a petrol yes?
