I'm toying with the idea of buying a PS3 for Gran Turismo...really only toying with the idea as I will only be interested in driving sims...not shoot ups..so don't know if I can justify it to myself.

I know nothing about games consoles...not really into games.

I thought of buying Gran Turismo 4...but notice that Gran Turismo 5 is on its way...or there is a demo you can download.

Is this demo useable?...as in can you drive it?

What PS3 should I be looking at?...40 or 60Gig...

What else do I need?

Steering wheel?

Thanks for any info

Mark, get the 60 gig, much better, it allows yo to play older PS2 games, ones that are not out on the PS3 yet.
Only you can decide if you want the steering wheel option, access to the internet for maximum enjoyment and another controller as a bare minimum.

If you want to get the best out of the system, then, connect it to a decent screen and surround system, the effects are brilliant

Mark go for it, you'll love the PS3. I downloaded a demmo of one of the Gran Tourismo games and was very disappointed TBH. Not sure which one it was. it looked lovely, but it drove very badly. Hated the way it handled. But it was still very "in development" at the time.

On a PS3 note - Alan you may be able to help me out here....

Tried to play a DVD last night. We decided to put Die Hard 4 on as it had a DTS track. But when I chose the DTS track on the disc, the Denon amp didn't get an input from the PS3. So I figured the PS3 wouldn't read a DTS track. Not sure on this one though.

So then I decided to just run the Dolby Digital track. It wouldn't read that either. All we could get was a Dolby Pro Logic input to the Denon Amp.

The PS3 is connected to the Denon using a digital optical cable.

This morning I pulled the PS3 out, and put our Toshiba DVD player back in. Using the same digital optical cable I got a DTS and DD signal to the Denon amp no problem.

So, ruling things out....

It's not the cable. It's not the Amp. It's not the DVD disc. I even tried a Dolby Digital encoded game and could only get a Pro Logic signal.

I'm a tad worried something has gone tiitius verticus with my PS3. :o :(

Mark, if this thread ends up turning into a PS3 problem sorting thread, I'll split it into it's own thread, to be fair to you.;)

Don't worry about that Andy...its ALL info good and bad I'm looking for.

I'm still in two minds....may be something else that's bought and never used.

I may wait until March and see what reviews GT5 gets in final code.

Thanks to all for replying!!!
