wife complaining of a droning type of noise when the car running ,think it maybe be the back box ,doesnt look or sound burst but does sound a bit suspect ,it sounds a bit raspy ,its a 53 plate mini one with 22 k .back box was replaced 3 years ago under warranty ,anybody else had similar probs

grab the tailpipe and shake it side to side... if it knocks and swings about then it will most likely need a new backbox bracket... other than that look for leaks @ the manifold flexi section and the mani-exhaust join and as ever the backbox disintegrating as they all do :rolleyes:

took the car for a blast 2 turriff yesterday and found it very noisey up 2 60mph ,if its not the the exhaust it sounds a bit like a wheel bearing

I'd a lot of droning noises in my car but process of elimination indicated that I should stop singing along to the radio :o:D:D ditto with CDs:D:D:D

had a mechanic look at the car 2 day .its a wheel bearing thats making the noise ,bummer ,will get it sorted after the new year

got the mini sorted tday .put it in 2 get the wheel bearing sorted and ended up puting on 2 new hubs on the back and also changed the discs and pads as they were totally wrecked,23000 mls in 4 years ,thats all the miles and the rear discs werent even original as they were replaced under warranty a few years ago ,nae impressed ,my 306 hdi is nearly 100000 mls and hasnt had a bearing yet .

What's the approximate cost for replacing a wheel bearing?
