Well i learnt a valuable lesson about Modifying within Warranty yesterday. My car has developed a slight knocking when turning sometimes but only occus randomly. I took it into dealership to have it checked and they have put it down to slight movement in the Front nearside ball joint. But offcourse they immediately ruled out a warranty claim which i kind of expected due to the fact that i have aftermarket KW Coilovers fitted. I was quoted £132 + VAT to replace the Ball Joint but the foreman reckoned that the movement was not significant enough to replace and advised to leave it for 4/5 months and see if it gets worse.. I even work for the dealership and still i couldn't get it put through under warranty.

Just shows us that BMW have a strict ruling on Warranty claims. Has anybody else had warranty work carried out despite their MINI having modifications??

Very difficult one to prove or disprove, you have, in the eyes of BMW seriously altered the geometery of the car and they will argue that there is more effect on the suspension with the coil overs.

Sad to say, they'll never do anything for you under warranty with regards to the suspension parts.

But, suffice to say, they could not refuse to fix a faulty window mechanism due to the coil overs.

You could of course try another dealer, not all are the same :)

But they will if you're windows are tinted, even though it was their mechanic who knackered the window!!
