Would anyone on here be interested in a Rolling Road day at Dastek Performance Centre? :D
A few of us on the MG ZR and ZS sites are trying to get the numbers together to run a rolling road day at a discounted price.
Dastek is based in Dalgetty Bay, Fife... and is regarded by many as the top RR centre in the country.
Dates will likely be between the 2nd-4th of November or the 10th-12th of November, price has not been decided yet. Last time round it was £30 for two power runs with a laminated print out of the results.
if any one is interested p.m me as the more the merrier

Ross - could you put me down as a 'possible' for this? Don't know if I'll def. be free on those dates, but like Stoney, I'd be interested to see if all my bits are working OK! If not, I can go to the dealer and ask for a refund........

Right...
Just off the phone with Mike at Dastek in Dalgety Bay.
I have provisionally booked the date of Saturday 27th October
The terms and conditions of the day are:
Dastek need Minimum 15 Cars Maximum 35 Cars
In Order for us to make the day ours we have to put down a deposit of £150, 3 weeks prior to our date, so that means folk pay £35 on the day, and the deposit is refunded to the payee.
What you get for your £35 is:
2 Power Runs
Laminated Printout
Expert advice if you want to get your car chipped etc.
if the guys on the list from here are still interested can you confirm and I'll update the list
Cheers!

ok sorry to put such a push on this but I need a £10 deposit from everyone going by Friday... PM me and I'll give you the paypal details
After the deposit it'll be £35 on the day... if anyone drops out the cost won't go up which is a bonus

There's a bit of debate about the price so hang fire for now... apparently the £10 won't be returned now making the full price £45
I for one don't want to be putting out nearly £50 for a bit of paper telling me what I roughly knew already.
I'll keep you posted as events unfold!

right it looks like this will be a no go, we needed 15 deposits by Wed this week and so far there are only 7 confirmed as going, and 3 of them arn't very happy about the price.
I've ha d a tip off of a local place that does it quite cheap so I'll try that next... stay tuned!

Sorry I've not kept up with this Ross - got v. busy with work & stuff. I'd still be intersested, but I've missed your 'deposit' date. Anyway, it looks like it's on hold at the moment........
For MINIS, maybe we can get an NMS Rolling Road Day in the new year?

3rd October 2007, 06:13 PM
Well the deadline was extended until tomorrow, but even with you the numbers are still too low for Dastec to even consider us.
I'm rapidly going off this place. Price hikes, numbers hikes and general bad attitude.
Apparently Ecosse the Puggy tuners in BoNess are much cheaper. I recon if you were going to do a RR this would be the place to do it... buy you really need to get the numbers and deposits well in advance - that's what's killed this... it was all too little too late.

Well final word from the guy orginising it, he pulled the plug
Even worse thing is that another club was wanting to run that day so we could have combined the two clubs and had the numbers needed. This has been a mess from start to finish.
I'll be attempting to run one myself but I doubt it'll be at Dastek with those prices
Sorry guys, but I'll keep you all in mind for next time!

Maxxed Ross
18th October 2007, 03:24 PM
I've heard a few funny stories about dyno results from them. Dastek are by far the most accurate so I suppose they can afford to pick and choose who comes for a run and the numbers
I'll do some investigating and get back to you all though

yeah true, it's more to do with stories about how they run the days and the stress put on the car.
I can only go by what I've been told, and so far it's not been good.
An alleged incident with a scooby, the owner, a wall and the statement "you will be paying for this or else" springs to mind

hmm think even if you are younger and have your own teeth they don't treat you very well must be that not female thing....
can honestly say if it ends up being dastek i won't be going. i was not impressed in the slightest with the attitude of their then head honcho paul...
however i hear he has left and started up his own company concept tuning or sumthing... personally i wouldn't relieve myself on him if he was on fire....
