OK Folks,

Willie and I have been planning organising another run for about 6 weeks or so now and on Sunday we went for the first recce of it. We wanted to plan something special and think we’ve got it. It will be a fantastic day out, the roads are all awesome MINI driving roads with the most spectacular Perthshire scenery right the way through the run and we are very excited about it. We won’t be posting final details of the run ‘til about a week after the Borders run.

Also we will be putting a limit of 30 (if need be) on the amount of cars. As we’ve now had the pleasure of organising and attending bigger runs we’ve managed to find out the downsides and as it takes a lot of time and effort to organise a run we want to be sure that everyone has a great day. The main problem with organising a run is the re-group, lunch and toilet stops. Finding adequate parking facilities for 30 odd cars is rather challenging and then you have to consider for other events being run the same day, therefore a car park you’ve picked that was empty on the recce might be pretty full on the run day.

We do plan to do this run again in Sept so if by any chance you can’t manage or numbers are full don’t worry.

We do need a bit of info from you guys on dates (not that we can promise) We need the dates of when Calum, Julz, Gerry and Alan will be away in May? Getting a date fixed will be by far the biggest problem. We’re looking at Sunday the 11th May or Sunday the 1st of June.

Scott, a friend of mine was at Crail also, he didn't see you but he did mention that there was a erm, ford escort cosworth that did an 11.7 second. Now, that is f"^*"^g fast. He thinks he blew it up though.
It had NOS as well.

Sorry Linda - i've been a bit slow on the uptake for this one!:I

Will consult the social convenor/ wife and let you know what date suits best - but from memory i reckon june is v.busy and we are off to a wedding (someone elses!) mid may but i can't remeber which date.

Will post back tomorrow!

Thanks for the offer of naming the run after me - i'm intrigued as to why though:question::p

Any more details of the route yet?

Make sure it is a SECURE car park and take note of your mileage, have it witnessed. Mo mysteriously managed to do 286 miles while I was in Mexico last year. Couldn't prove anything because they never took my milage when I handed the keys over. It was a company in Renfrew so beware!!

Julz
12th April 2003, 08:14 PM
Don't worry, i plan to take a photo of the mileage (is that a bit sad??). It's the car park with the police security award, but i suppose that doesn't mean anything!:I

Avoid the secure parking in the Paisley area (we're from south of the border so we weren't away of Paisley's reputation at the time) - we came back from hols to find the car park surrounded by police tape as there had been 2 murders in area during our 14 day hols!!

And the bus take ages to turn up at Terminal!!

Cool a run I can get to go one any date.. was hoping to maybe try to make the borders one but did not have car in time :(

As for airport carparks I used one last time and they where ace, I booked online and had no hassle the park the car with you there write the milage drive you to airport take a note of when you are due back pick you up whe you do come back and have the car running with the boot open splendid!
