Does anyone have fitted, or is getting a set of the new Lexus-style rear lights for the MINI? Apparently, according to a mate, they will be standard on MINIs as from mid-2004 but i not sure about that myself... Anyway, i've considering getting a set but i was wondering how i would fit them? Are the light 'pods' a complete unit? Do they use the standard connections in the rear tail?

He's kind of right, the facelifted model will come with new light clusters

See here for more info:-

As for fitting, i cant help you, but one of the white light replacers might help you.

(For my opinion, the Lexus lights are better off on a Lexus!)

Its just that I’m not too keen on the standard lights.

Oh, here's my IOU for that reputation point I owe you regarding my earlier thread on induction kits... <throws virtual scrap of paper across the large expanse of the internet in Duncan's direction>

Is it just me or are the new style rear lights, that will be standard from mid2004, different in appearance to the projector style lights being quoted as the new standard?

New from mid-2004:

Projector style lights being quoted as the new 2004 type:

Its just that some people say that the projector 'lexus' style lights will be the standard style from mid-2004, and others say the same about the others...

I suppose it doesnt really matters since i'm considering buying the projector 'lexus' style sometime - as soon as i can find out how to fit them...lol

To replace the rear lights is easy peasy lemon squeezy, cause I did mine all by myself!! You just need alot of patience as the bolt that they're held on with is about a foot long!! If you pop open one of the plastic covers inside your boot and deek your head round at a painful and awkward angle, you'll see what I mean!!!
Have a look at www.coopertuning.de as they have loads of lovely lights!!:D:cool:

If I'm right, Seany has the ones you've pictured on one of his Minis (greedy boy ;)) tee hee...
I thought about them a while back, then went off the idea...

Still considering the clear / white ones tho... Think they might look pretty fine on me mowta....

:D

Do all the alternative light designs offered by these various people fit the standard connections present in the mini? I'm considering buyign the projector lights from coolnew - does anyone know if bulbs are included?

I'm sure every mini has the same connections, and my lights came with all the bulbs, so I presume it's the same for all lights!!:p

Alright Willie, yeah i fitted them myself. They were actually quite easy to fit, took about 15min per light (lots of time need to unscrew bolt).
