Aaaaaaagh haaaaaaa (cracks nuckles) where do I begin:D
We do indeed have a vast collection of rc vehicles (try 35+:eek: )
First thing is what do you want out of your rc vehicle.....?
Is it just for a bit of fun racing around the street outside your house..?
If so I would steer clear of a nitro one as its a bit noisy and would soon pi$$ of the most understanding neighbour:rolleyes: Plus there's a bit more maintenance required to keep them running well.
You meantion petrol but the smallest petrol ie 2 stroke, engined rc is a whopping 1/5th scale (about 2' long:eek: ) and about 500+ quid...!!!
That leaves electric. Nice and quiet, reasonable run times 15mins+ and not to expensive (about 150 quid - for a good one) If geared correctly with a hairy motor in it they will reach speeds of 30+mph.
If its just to bash about with I'd go for whats called a truggy.....its a kind of cross between a truck and a buggy. Basically its got a truck shaped chassis and body with buggy wheels which are set outside the main confindes of the body. This has lots of wheel travel (about 2") for handling kerbs and rougher terrain and if is got a big enough motor/battery combo can pull impressive wheelies:D
Traxxas Emaxx is a good one or Tamiya make several different ones. Spares are dead easy to come buy as well for both of these manufaturers.

Just checked the web and you can get a Stadium Thunder for about 100 quid from the far east(ebay) or the Emaxx comes in at about 300 quid(UK model shop)
One thing I forgot to mention is that the Stadium Thunder is rear wheel drive only and the emaxx is 4 wheel drive. I would go for the emaxx as it a hoot to drive:rolleyes: It just goes over EVERYTHING....lol:p
The emaxx is a bit bigger scale as well:D

It takes this kind of punishment all the time and just refuses to break......its indistructable....(It will probable snap in half now that I've said that:eek: )

Wow, nice collection, em well it is really only for thrashing around the street, looking for good range though, as street quite and their is lots of places for jumps etc.

Traxxas Emaxx looks well cool, but dont know if i want to spend that sort of £££.

I know i want something fast, good off road, with a good range, does that help?

What my dad has failed to mention about the EMaxx is that the price is almost ready to run... all you need are a set of two battery packs (it has twin motors and a pack runs each one!) and a charger (all of which I can flog you for a very reasonable price!)

Most kits on ebay will need electrics, even basic kit can end up costing £100 + just to get yourself moving

IMO the Emaxx is the ultimate beginners play thing. It comes pre built, pre painted and like i said you just need to fling some batteries at it to get going. I've had mine must be 5 years not and have only ever broken 1 wish bone (my own fault, I hit a breeze block at full speed)

it'll climb anything, jump anything and survive the most insane accidents without missing a beat. Plus once you get good at driving it pulling wheelies and stoppies on demand is awesome fun!

You'll have every kid in the street turning green

I'll even provide driving lessons if needed!

Thunder tigers are OK I think. We've never owned one so can't really tell you to much about them....sorry:o
I noticed its only 2 wheel drive tho so will limit its capabilities TBH. Its whats called a stadium racer which means its more suited to flat undulating grass type surfaces. Try looking on ebay. I'm sure I saw a couple of emaxxes for sale and there running brushless motors which produce an insane amount of power:eek: (need big batteries tho) should do about 40+mph if its geared right:D

my granddad's friend drove it into a lump of concrete and gave it 3 wheel steering! doh!

Dug it out this afternoon and gave it a quick run, all seems ok. It still pulls wheelies and stoppies on demand despite the clutch being well past it's best!

only thing is I had forgot that I broke the front body posts last time out at the skate park and never got round to ordering more... so the body will be taped down or left off all together unfortunately. You'll get the general idea though

Well after charging the bettery all night, i managed in the space of 20 mins to brake the thing twice!!?? :D :D

He does a lovely paint job on them. all his cars are looking good. I have a Mini shell to paint, any tips? its the Tamiya MO3 chassis

This may sound daft Monki but the best tip is to roughen up the areas your going to paint with one of those green, nylon type kitchen scouring pads:eek: Sounds like the worst thing to do but it actually helps the paint key to the bodyshell:cool: Don't go daft mind :eek: just a light rub all over (Ooooerrrmissus:D ) the body missing the windows of course as you don't paint them...normally:rolleyes: You don't see any marks once the paint is applied....trust me;) Wash the shell out in warm soapy water and dry after you've scrubbed it. Warm (not melt:eek: )the shell and the paint....we use an old hairdryer (and before anyone says it I know I don't need it anymore:mad: ). Apply light,thin,even coats of paint. Dry with hairdryer between coats. Little and often is the trick. Hold the shell up to the light, looking from the inside out, and check if there are any thin patches. As for putting the stickers on.........................patience thats all:p Good luck and post a picture of the finished shell......unless its crap then you can put it in the bucket and tell no one:D

I've had my wee mowta supplied by Big Gordy and Maxxed Ross for a couple of years now, i wanted it as a replica of my first S and vowed never to destroy it, but, seeing this thread i think i'm gonna take the plunge and see what it can do, or rather what i can't make it do :D
