AndyP & Lenore
9th July 2007, 11:25 AM
Not an X5.
She tells me it's a quirky but cool car. And it's one of the first imports into the UK.
Suggested a new Dodge 4x4 thingy - nope. Then I suggested one of those H3 Hummers - nope. Got bored with the game after that and gave up.

I think they are amazing machines - but I'm convinced I'd just fall off and tear a hole in the ass of my jeans.
That video clip is cool Fi. Reminds me of the Panto in the Kings in Edinburgh two years ago.... Alan Stewart came on riding one at the start. Was hilarious.

I thought I'd fall off loads, but you really have to be an idiot to fall off one!
The only time it got a bit hairy was slopes, as you lean forward to go forward if you forget to lean even more to get up the hill you end up just rolling back down!
You can get a fair bit of speed up, and as they are silent nobody hears you coming up behind them. We hired some for a couple of hours, they were brilliant fun and a great way of getting about.

max speed is something like 12mph:eek:

10th July 2007, 11:14 AM
It feels faster! They start to kick back as you speed up, the feet rest rises at an angle and it feels very odd.
Didn't feel all that safe at that speed but they are really stable. Guess you'd get used to it.

are they not technically illegal for use in public in the uk?
euan
10th July 2007, 12:28 PM
They are not road legal, but nothing to stop you using it on private land. I used one in Lithunia though where the laws are somewhat vague!

10th July 2007, 12:33 PM
They were on top gear and have also been used at the golf in the UK for filming and doing close up shots etc at last years british open

Nope wrong.:D
I can confirm that the ship with me motor on it docked in Bristol last week and the V55 or something like that has been requested. It should be with a local dealer for me to collect Thursday/Friday.
Big Gordy is correct it is 100% plain with not that many gadgets :( but IMHO looks super super cool. It is only the third motor of this model spec to be in the country at this time.
