Need a new "scoop" as chrome on old one is pitted. Any recomendations on the best to get, or does anyone have a decent one to sell?

Bought a new chrome scoop today from a dealer who advertises in Modern Mini. Managed to pick it up while I was in Newcastle today. It looks good but it's crap. It has no bolt fittings like the one that is on the car and it is supposed to "stick on"..... to what?

Am I being thick, cause I coudn't get it to stick any which way. It also seems that to stick something to an area that heats up doesn't seem logical. Has anyone else fitted a "sticky" model?

Am I missing something or is it a call for a refund of £40?

Big Norm, are you out there? Do you do a proper one that bolts on?

Psychologically I've been having a funny night; I used a clay for the first time.....it works but it isn't natural:eek: :o  see separate post

Malcolm, I've had a sticky one in the past. It actually sticks to the original coloured scoop, that would have come with the car if you hadn't bought it with the chrome scoop in already. I would imagine sticking a new chrome scoop over a bolted chrome scoop is gonna look daft. REFUND!

However, JCW do a chrome scoop - I've just sold the one that was on our Hyper blue before we had that de-chroming period. It wasn't expensive - certainly not much more than the £40 you paid for your sticky - from memory. At least that one bolts on properly, using the original fixing on the car. I'm sure Norm will be able to sort you out with one.

Sorry to hear you had a 'sticky one' Andy. Did the visit to the specialist make it all better? Remember to complete the full course, or it'll come back.

Malcolm - I've PM'd you Re. Ecosse Decals. It's all 'sticky' in here......
