Ok Mines 56K.....

She was born Sept 05 and as I'm an ADI I rack up the miles. Mostly trouble free.

Only 2 punctures. 2 Windscreens (Stone crack :( and Seagul (DOI :D)). 2 new rear bumpers due to idiots driving via esp.

Under warranty = 1 clutch and flywheel skimmed. 1 exhaust gas oxygen sensor, 1 engine mount, 1 set drivers seat rails (constantly adjusted lots daily), 1 indicator stalk (Steering wheel still to be replaced under waranty due to puncture marks for airbag disarming), 1 main speedo due to clock running slowly, 1 power steering pump.

1 new rear quarter panel and nearside door due to avoiding small child  running front of car in car park (clipped bollard :o ).

1 new drivers door window due to lowlife trying to steal satnav which was in house anyway. He nicked the prescription sunglasses and left the psp!!! Neighbour nearly caught said lowlife and was able to ID to CID and the towrag gor done!!! Result!!!

Overall I'm very happy when you consider I drive and teach in the car. Apart from some very minor stuff fixed under warranty everything else has been an external factor if you follow.

So how about you guys?

A very late '03 Reg. Bought her secondhand back in October last year and totally trouble-free since. :) Long may it continue.

But....

Previous car.....

Born March 2005.

21,000 miles when traded (last Thursday). Went through 3 (count them... ONE, TWO, THREE) rear view mirrors because of rattles. Timing chain replaced at about 12,000 miles ish - had to fight for that one ("Mr Poole, it's a consumable part") - "Not at 1 year old on 12,000 miles it's not, thank you very much!" Apart from that, it's had it's emissions light switched off by the dealer a couple of times.

Aside from the above, 21,000 miles of happy trouble free motoring.

A.:D :D

1 new rear quarter panel and nearside door due to avoiding small child  running front of car in car park (clipped bollard :o ).

Now as a ADI how could you hit a bollard if you were in control of the car and driving at a speed which suited the conditions and in a carpark?

22100 Miles  May 2005 until present...

Had 1 puncture, have a nail in one tyre at the mo so could make that 2 :p
Also had, new windscreen, bonnet, bumper, spot lights, grilles, radiator and asorted hoses etc, chassis legs, chassis beam, lower chassis~suspension arm/legs supports, loads of bits and bobs around the engine etc, jcw steering wheel, 2 airbags, 2 seat belts, top dash panel... Had a wee bump ;)

Under warranty i've had my JCW exhaust and manifold replaced due to cracks and rattles.

Other than that the car has been sound as a pound, had its share of wee rattles and creaks but that comes and goes with the age etc temperature affects it too.

Runs better than ever now mind you :D

Its long and complicated. Trust me it was either the child or the Bollard. Little angel ran from behind a van parked besides me on my right as I was creeping forward and I turned the wheel then braked..........

Reverse parked into the bay next to the trolly bay rather close so i could get out of the car and the van was face in if you follow.

When I asked mother why child was running around the car park she said I should have been looking where I was going and that she was putting the buggy in the boot.........

ok so strictly speaking it isn't even vaguely a mini but mileage... pfft... check this out.. 2001 530D se manual .... my dads car from aug 03 with 17k on it.. now stands at 182k after having got a higher spec m sport version with 39k on it back in may 07

no windscreens, probably every suspension arm once still on original clutch and flywheel, no oil or fuel leaks no noises and no smoke even though it's never had the turbo replaced (never needed)

all goes to prove that they really don't make them like they used to :P hence why he bought the 530D m sport auto

Previous car:
2003 Pepper White Cooper, Playmini exhaust, RamAir Induction kit, some stereo toys ;) had it 2 1/2 years, did about 46,000 miles
Only had a faulty BC1 unit once, a broken power steering pump (heavy!) and a couple of the windown rubber trims had to be replaced from new .
Oh.. and being hit by a joyrider ona roundabou at about 40mph, did about £4.5K of damage :(:(, had to take it back twice to the dealer (no names but it was the local one ) till they fixed it properly. I miss that car, it was great fun.

Current: 2005 One, Playmini exhaust (yup - same one! still going strong and shiny!), RamAir induction kit (up, same too), same stereo toys as before, new alloys, Halos.
18 months old now or thereabouts, roundabout 15,000 miles on it now. Never had ANY bother with it at all - the build quality is excellent
Mind you - occasional squeaky noise from the central locking at the rear passenger corner (?) when locking... but that's all.
It's now getting a 30 mile commute every day, loving every mile
Oh yeah, the heated Sports seats and Sports suspension helps a lot too :D

Hit 58k last night. Bought it Feb 14th 2006 with 29k on it. Since then it's had...

Replaced seat adjusters, both driver and passenger. Two new headlights due to gearing faults in adjustment motors. Fuel pump relay. Windscreen and top seal replaced due to incorrectly fitted prior to my buying. Replaced steering column, differential seals, exhaust bracket, boot latch.
All warranty with a few things dealer "good will" geastures.

Since warranty expired it has had the passenger door lock replaced and that's it.

Not too bad I guess but most of the repairs were done within the first few months of me buying the car because the dealer hadn't checked it over correctly before selling it. Boot latch was broke the day I got it and the rest made themselves known within weeks.:(

Still that's all sorted out now so time to move on to the next 58k miles.:)
