Hi there folks,

Just undecided as with regards to purchasing an aerokit or to keep my 'S' styling that I have and purchase some new wheels?

I think a Mini looks better with an aerokit but then again I want to get rid of my 'S' spokes:D & with only a certain amount of money available to go either way...I need advice as for what route to go!

I could get the aerokit & then buy wheels a few months down the line, but the F&F show is soon approaching and 'want' it to be lookin cool by then!

ARRRRRRRGGHHHHHHHHH!

Ryan:)

I'd get the aero kit... and swap alloys in a few months... tricky decision. Not sell a kidney on Ebay and get both ? ;)

I found a couple of companies that as long as it was fitted at time of registration will not charge any extra. Worth telling your insurance company that it is a "dealer fit option"...that seemed to go down much better with them.

And after market alloys also need to be declared so sounds like you'll be speaking to them either way.

I fitted the Aerokit & had to change insurance company as your average internet mob will not touch 'modified' cars. I was with Budget but when I told them I had fitted an Aerokit (although a factory fitted option) they said 'nope'. Contacted Adrian Flux & they quoted me much the same price as (the standard) Budget quote but with the following add-on's : Aerokit, Playmini Cat Back Box, 18'Hamanns & a K&N Panelfilter :D

Do not get rid of your 'S' spokes as they are THE 17' alloy :D

I personaly prefer the S look and never been to keen on the Aero kit, too much black with the black grill i think. I also think the s spokes are one of the best suited wheels for the Mini.

Was thinking of going that way, just can't justify spending £400 on side skirts:eek: .

That would be one of my choices though aside the Aerokit;)

Ok i've found a Mini that I can imitate, and will be quite cheap to do so!

Wolfrace Katanas are cheap as f*** and tinted tail lights aren't that dear either! So all in all a cheap imitation

Or Does it look like scrap??:p

Rims look good. If it was my money...I'd get the aero skirts before the lights.

Those rims look pretty sweet. One thing tho, I'd go for a tyre profile one up from whatever is on that car. They don't fill the arches quite enough, and you'll feel that on the road. They look like what I have on mine (205 40s I think) and TBH, sometimes they're a wee bit harsh. The 215 45s (I think) on my old Cooper felt just that wee bit more 'comfortable' handling-wise than these. I got 'em with the wheels tho, they'll be replaced as soon as I can wear em down. The new 35 min daily commute down the twisty A roads will soon sort that out ;):D

Ooh.. and if you're worrying that much about the Side skirts.. go for a set of Cooper S skirts in the meantime. They're a good bit 'Swoopier' that the standard Coopr / One ones, and make a hell of a difference to the look of the car, even if they are still in black plastic...

tbh, i think those wolfrace wheels look mince, but then again it's all personal taste!

Why not get your aerokit and have your wheels powdercoated, it completely changes the look of the car and won't break the bank!

Bet that doesn't help, hehe!

PS...I think Bazthemod might be able to point you in the right direction for a good aerokit deal ;)

If it were me, I'd go for the aero kit. Looks the muts nuts on any MINI. If the budget doesn't stretch that far, like smiglyy say's, colour code the arches and go for a set of alloys. Again, personal taste and all that, but I not keen on those wheels on the silver cooper in the above post. You are saying Katana's are cheap..... might be a reason for that. All IMHO.

And someone suggested powder-coating your S spokes.... that would be a good way of achieving a different look on a budget. Then you may have some dosh for an aero kit.:D

Ok did a quick (scrappy) photoshop of my powdercoating ideas. 1st photo is powdercoated gunmetal & 2nd is powdercoated black...however still leaving the edging silver between the spokes.

How much you guys reckon for a powdercoat job?

The worst thing is that my uncle (T1OOL) has a set of AP Racing brakes sitting at his house waiting to go on my Mini!!! And I can't afford wheels to get them on lol:p

Will need to wait a couple of months (which means after Fast&Modified) before the brakes are on:(

mate, i think you'll find that the second idea isn't feasible with the wheel design. however, the first photoshop with the gunmetal looks great.

i tried posting the pic to help your photoshopping, but failed...miserably.

Pewdertec in Glasgow have a really good reputation for this kind of work, run a search in the forums as we've had the refurb discussion plenty of times! They're actually pretty reasonable too.

I've got a set of matt black wheels I put on sometimes just for a change
http://i64.photobucket.com/albums/h187/BigGordy/General%20Mini%20Stuff/DSCF1138.jpg

But to be honest if i leave them on too long I start to go off them:( So bear that in mind if you go for black. It does give the car the 'racer' look though:cool:

I can't see the pictures due to my work's websense, but, have you considered anthracite for the wheels, i'm on my second car and they really look nice   IMHO :)

Black colour coded arches and either anthracite wheels like Bonnie Scotland suggests, or powder coated in gun metal, would both look fine.

Saves you some money on the full aero kit too.

Although I'd probably go for the side skirts from the body kit. Makes a huge difference.
