After someone saying that the S gave better fuel consumption than the Cooper I posted on MINI2 for owners figures. Here is a summary of the responses so far:
Any comments, that is if you don't fall asleep before the end ;)
R56 Cooper
1. For the last 1000 miles, averaged ~43.5mpg. About 80% motorway, some of it partly crawling in rush hour traffic.
2. Well I've only done 250 miles but my mpg is rising slowly and is now on 38
3. 43.1 mpg motorway/a roads/urban
4. I'm averaging about 50 mpg. Mostly rush hour motorway - 0-70 mph. (40miles m6, m62 into manchester)
5. 37 mpg - Lanes and few motorway driving
6. 07 MC R56 I am getting 42 overall , urban with a little A road stuff
7. 38-39mpg normal roads no motorway short journeys
8. 38mpg at the moment. just over 1k. mainly town and a few motorway journeys.
9. 40mpg in winter now about 38.5mpg with the aircon used in anger Commute is a stop start crawl through London followed by a blast down the M3
10. Im getting roughly 44mpg, driving on mainly motorways
11. I've averaged 44mpg in my R56 MC
12. the average consumption is 43.9 MPG
13. Still running at 45 mpg after 7K miles ... motorway and usual Edinburgh rush hour traffic
14. 40mpg+ R56 Cooper - Always run on Shell V-Power Motorway + city driving
15. After 2138 miles the OBC shows 45.7mpg. Average speed 37mph. Mostly rural driving.
16. After 2600 miles in manual Cooper, I am getting 41.8 mpg (UK). Mixed driving. Mostly rural roads.
R56 Cooper S
1. 33mpg, half urban, half motorway
2. My average is between 33-34mpg
3. Average 38 or just over ............. most of the time take it easy but other times WEEEEEEEEEE
4. When I first picked my MCS up I had a 230 mile journey home from the dealer. On that run, which was 90% motorway, it was sat at 47mpg. Haven't done any motorway driving in the last month, so I've been mainly around town and it's now reading 35mpg.
5. I'm only getting 29-30mpg or so, I don't do any motorway driving anymore to be fair, it is all city centre sort of stuff, but even so I'm a little dissapointed!!
6. Average 38 but on my 22 mile round trip to work today managed 45.2 driving like a nun.
7. My R56 MCS is getting 39.7 mpg after 900 miles. Still running in so havent gone over 4500rpm yet.
8. R56 MCS Auto. After 220 miles of Central London driving: 18.5 mpg!
9. R56 is returning around 41mpg
10. Best around town during school holidays was 33mpg and best so far on 150 mile M1 trips 39mpg
11. Averaging 39mpg, with driving 40% town/60% motorway + A-road driving.
12. 34.5 on 2500miles half motorway /urban
13. my cars brand new so im not thrashing it and still only get an average around 28?
14. I am getting about 33mpg mostly on lanes and A roads but not much motorway
15. My 07 plate R56 S has 3800 miles on it now as I do about 80 mile round trip most days on 'A' roads. Getting an average of 37mpg.

18. im gettin 35.1-3 with 60% motorway and 40% city traffic driving.

20. ive now had both and me mcs is getting about 36 mpg
