Big Vibes from the Engine Cooling Fan

Folks - anyone noticed a serious amount of vibration through the car when the engine cooling fan kicks in? I got stuck on the A8000 last thursday night when the police decided to escort a wide load through the road works at the M9 spur and it was too wide for the single lane so the stopped all the traffic both directions for 30 mins to remove a mile of road cones!! :(

Anyway in this time the fan kicked in about 3-4 times and it makes some racket and fairly rattled the car.

Just wondered really - it's due it's inspection I in 4000 mile so will get it checked but wanted to see the consensus on here too.

It shouldn't be rattly mate, when it's on it can be fairly audible, but it should run smooth. Maybe a mounting is loose?

Yeh - on previous cars (non MINI) you knew it was on but only by sound - not by a numb bum! :p

Yeah, you always know when its on...... when you feel the slight vibration...

Its only a very slight vibration though, from the picture your painting it sounds knackered

It sounds like it is running unbalanced, either that or it is getting revved up for take-off!!!
