Any help or advice would be appreciated. The remote locking on the my wifes 02 Cooper has packed in. I have changed batteries to no avail. Central locking works when done the old fashioned way (key in lock. Unfortunately pressing the buttons on key does nothing.
Internal toggle works though.
Any ideas folks??
Many thanks

Have you only got the one remote key?

In the early days a second key fob was an £80 option, not much help, but, i fear a trip to the dealer will be required.
Hopefully, the cost will be much lower, may even be worth buying one on eBay and kindly asking your dealer to enable it

Only got the one remote key and one normal key.
Could it be a case of just the key needing re coded??
Cheers

ok do me a favour and press the metal part of the key against the rear screen and press if nothing then it's most likely the reciever thats goosed if it's a convertible they'll replace the interior mirror if it's a hardtop it's a little black box behind the headlining in the area where the pre-facelift's clock would be
thats if the key's definately working of course
shouldn't take v. long to diagnose at all
sorry i can't be of any real help
