Can I ask - what's the difference between a gig and a concert????

Surely both include some key ingredients:
band
venue
stage
paying audience
beer

Am I missing something?

You heard the one about a double postive?

A young School teacher was explaining to her class in Cardenden that you can have a double negative...but not a double postive...

The janitor was cleaning up a spill in the classroom at the time...never looked up but said "Aye Right!"

nuff said....

Id class a concert as something in a big place with a band / singer etc on stage.
A gig on the other hand could be in a smaller place ie Pub, Club, hall. ???

The folks playing on stage look at concerts or gigs as being a gig.

Concert/gig is for the punter to differentiate...and as you say Clare...its all to do with the "room"

Let me throw in a third term..."performance"
